    Because I can!!

I think, because I've done pretty well for myself financially, that I'll stage a golf invitational. World Chanpionship has a nice ring to it, don't you think? 32 men or 64, doesn't matter to me, so long as I can play myself, along with some hand-picked cronies. I submit respectfully again that...

    Boy!!!

Why me, Randy? I've never been anything but nice to you and you degrade, villify and embarrass me for no reason. You further post outright lies about lots of things. Well, pal, something needs to be done about you. This is the last time I'll ever dirty up a post of mine with your name but let's...

    Grady's new pool rooom

Past the first day Our first day went well. Steady traffic all day and we had lots of fun meeting so many people. I watched a young guy practice for three hours. He has a great stroke and looks like he has a bright future if he keeps at it.

    Which is the truth, guys?

Furthermore, I have no say in who does or does not recieve an invitation. (posted by Randy, aka NYCuedude) The decision was Randy's, not mine - it's his event and he can invite anybody he wants - (Posted by Blackjack)

    A few thoughts

I wouldn't play in the straight pool tournament if I received an invitation in '08. I will just work on my own tournaments at our new room, with no invitationals. Mostly One Pocket, Bank Pool, Seniors, some ring games and gambling matches. I had intended to do 14.1 but I just have a sour taste...

Anybody have any Ted Elias stories or knew him

That's also where Flyboy was from. I used to play Ted once in a while. His wife was the one who had the gamble in the family. She'd bet you 3 or 4 hundred a game, while Ted was only betting fifty. Nice people, as I recall.

Here's my solution to UPA and Charlie

Correction I made a mistake. I meant only One Pocket and Bank Pool. By the way, this august board doesn't know that about 3 years ago the UPA promised me they'd only do 9 Ball.

Here's my solution to UPA and Charlie

I'm going to start small, with Bank Pool, One Pocket, Senior and 14.1 events. Players will have to sign an agreement to not play in any of those disciplines put on by the UPA or the WPA. I have catchy names and promotional plans to really bring these great games to the fore. When it comes time...

    disgraceful is what it is!!!!

More nonsense Not true. I love the DCC and the U.S. Open 9 Ball tournaments. If I could have just paid an entry fee I would have. I knew when I posted this that the loonies would light into me. Well, go ahead somebody has to stand up against the UPA and Charlie.

    disgraceful is what it is!!!!

It's terrible that the so called World Straight Pool event in New Jersey didn't use Pat Fleming and Accu-stats. Pat has paid his dues a hundred fold and he has the best commentators, too. And this was right in his backyard in upstate NJ. I can't bring myself to watch any of it because I know in...

    Rating One Pocket Players

A few random thoughts If I do any more serious gambling it'll be in my new place. I don't mean to denigrate or insult anyone. The truth is though, that everybody knew I'd play anybody in the world even up One Pocket from say, 1980 to 1993. Now I'm not saying I would have won, just that I liked...

    Rating One Pocket Players

How we came out He's ahead of me over the years because he has always been a smart gamemaker and a solid player. But he never dreamed of playing me even One Pocket when I was at the top of my game. I always spotted him and he didn't always win when I gave him weight.

I forgot I lived in Colorado from 1973 until 1981. The only One Pocket matches I lost playing even were to Cecil Tugwell in '73 and to Ronnie in '75. I avenged those losses quickly. Before CO I lived in OKC for a couple of years and I had no losses there either at One Pocket. Steve Cook, who I...

Old School vs. New School Players

A few words I have always believed that if you had cue skills, given a respectable amount of time to adapt and learn that you could play any pool game from any era with some success. "Shootout" was how 9 ball was played until the Jansco brothers brought one foul to Johnston City. About a decade...

Question for Jay on Don Willis

Some odds and ends Don was all of the things the knowledgeable posters have said. As to George Fels' comment about cheating at cards, EVERYBODY did, including me. I knew Don pretty well but he was at least a full generation older than I so I didn't get to see that much of his playing, certainly...

Rodney Morris named UPA's Lead Player Representative

None of this to do with the UPA is a good thing. I have to be careful what I say on this forum. If you wish to peruse my unedited comments on this subject, I'll have them on my blog sometime tonight. It is Grady's Place

    Grady's

Thanks, everyone for all the positive words and the great suggestions. I am a blessed man to have so many wonderful friends and supporters. To the couple of folks who pointed out that the U.S. Open started on the 14th, you're right and thanks. I can't find any open dates for the fall so we have...
