Why Your Skill Doesn’t Matter in Matches - Just in Practice

Using short sweet parables while in the chair helped get my mind right in competition. 3 words is a good place to start. Make it count. Seize the day. Never give up. Believe you can. Create your destiny. Learn from yesterday. Appreciate every moment Well that's the list Google provides. My...

Why Your Skill Doesn’t Matter in Matches - Just in Practice

Be Here Now is a favorite book. Don't focus on the last nor the next.

Less expensive Joss cues and quality?

When I bought mine from Cole it was attributed to Bill Stroud work. His statement was well Doolie has offered 120 for it. My reply was 200 and sold followed. The next time I saw Cole he attributed it truthfully as Joss East as he was no longer in sales mode. It made no difference to me as it's...

Less expensive Joss cues and quality?

The fiber pad between tip and ferrule is important with ivory. The acetone super glue treatment has stopped the growth of the crack. The hit is solid. Still under warranty. 🤷‍♂️

Why Your Skill Doesn’t Matter in Matches - Just in Practice

Well the fight or flight type decisions are always in the game with tough situations. Do I want to try a hard shot or play a difficult safety. 🤔 So when that situation arrives I favor take the shot. As I would rather go down swinging than go down trying to duck and hide.

Roger Petit made me a shaft with ivory ferrule. It was his first ivory ferrule and an old cracked cueball was the source. The ferrule had a slight crack on delivery and Roger pointed it out with, "if it fails I will replace. I used the Crack (and still do) as A front sight. Keeping the Crack...

Less expensive Joss cues and quality?

Yes, it's hit is oh so familiar after uh many many years. When the nicked Irish linen wrap came unraveled the name Cole and date was in ink underneath. Seems like it was '87 as my hands oil have worn away the ink now. The slightest difference in the size of the grip suited me so never...

Why Your Skill Doesn’t Matter in Matches - Just in Practice

Simulating competition is easy. Simulating the pressure you could feel being center stage at the Big show is harder to do. Control of the cueball mastery can be easier than Control of the mind. My personal progress through the development of my pool game started with the physical. My study of...

Why Your Skill Doesn’t Matter in Matches - Just in Practice

League players could practice together to elevate everyone's game. A quarter on the 5 and 50 cents on the 9 is a good game with team mates. Or one and two, whatever is casual yet a way to keep score. As a team all can improve their performance in league competition by pushing each other in...

Why Your Skill Doesn’t Matter in Matches - Just in Practice

7 That was my speed at work as a carpenter. It made the time go by faster and kept me in shape. I still chuckle at the time a new work partner many years my junior asked, "aren't you tired yet?" He was young and strong and we knocked out a tilt-up job in record time. 🤷‍♂️ My stall playing 9...

Why Your Skill Doesn’t Matter in Matches - Just in Practice

It's not that I hid my speed, it's just that I never used speed that I didn't need. Well as a rule in a one dollar game I might pronounce, "that was a 5 dollar shot if and when I felt the need for speed.🤷‍♂️ 😉 As for sharking? I never started it but I can finish it. 🤷‍♂️

Why Your Skill Doesn’t Matter in Matches - Just in Practice

I concur 😉 . My method after a miss was to analyze why then file it. Relax and prepare in case I get to the table again. Generally my analysis determined where I had gone wrong. The ones I couldn't figure out were given consideration then filed in the unknown file and put behind with the same...

Why Your Skill Doesn’t Matter in Matches - Just in Practice

Well I got as far as "attention fades" or something like that. Self Hypnosis is a place to start. Balance competition with practice. Study Practice Perform. Wash rinse repeat. " We play to have fun." Is a favorite Coach McHargue quote. That's always followed with, "it's easier to have fun...

I have a few 8 ball titles now. 🤷‍♂️ 😉 And my favorites end with Ass hoooole. I moved up to 5 dollar lessons from Portland Slim. The eldest at the 211 down town and upstairs Seattle. He played me as a pass time and invariably put me down by 25-35. He was Old enough to tire and I was in my...

The trance like eyes.....🤔 Self help knows us. Hypnosis done to self. I get the lucky when I feel good about who I am and what I am doing. Well that's when my best performance came. Long ago 😉 My favorite 8 ball lessons came......well, I have 2 favorites. The first was a dollar a game at The...

Gotta love the 3 taps to the table as acknowledging a Nice shot. My preference is to verbalize in passant, "Nice shot" of course an extra ordinary one got, "Nice shoot. (With trailing ass hole. Ptht)"
