    Earl's Foul

You're right Don. I stated that their behavors were different. The thing that is consistent, though, is that both their behaviors lacked integrity. Pete was asked numerous times to tell the truth and he refused - not much integrity there imho.

    Earl's Foul

Pete Rose in baseball comes to mind. Of course I know that there is a huge difference between what Pete did and what Earl did but the bottom line is that integrity should be part of the game.

    Earl's Foul

Technically speaking, you are absolutely correct Barbara, there was nothing wrong with what Earl did according to the current rules of the game. That being said, the rules SUCK!! I think the pool world should take a serious look at Snooker and how they manage to instill high moral values in...

Anyone ever play GOLF on a snooker table?

I played on 12 and 10 foot snooker tables. The 12 footer was a pretty tough game and that's actually the table I learned to play on. I've heard of the game at Champion Billiards. From what I've heard, the player that used to lose all the time is doing pretty good at getting his money back...

    hot chicks

I can't say anything about this ph because I've never been there. Talking about nice looking women at a ph though, you should check out Hardtimes in Sacramento! This place is a couple of store fronts away from a beauty college and there are women walking around all the time. A lot of the...

    Earl's Foul

You'd be surprised. I've been on this board a long time and we've had several discussions about Earl and many of the posters back then felt like Earl's talents should be the only thing we talk about. In other words, his talent was all that should matter.

    Earl's Foul

Earl is a great pool player. Ted Williams was a great baseball player. Ted Williams was a very poor sport. Earl is a very poor sport. Just because someone is really good at something doesn't mean they are going to be a wonderful human being. I think we should quit trying to put these kind...

    Buddy Hall Instruction Series Video

I tried this shot umpteen times and couldn't do it. Yesterday, I was playing a guy some 8b and a friend of mine who had been watching me try this shot before was playing on the next table. We started talking about this shot and the guy I was playing asked me to demo the shot. I did and hit it...

    Banking With the Beard

I have the book and I totally agree that you can't just read it and expect it to help you a lot. You really need to practice what's in the book. Everyone has a different stroke and you have to adjust accordingly. I loved some of the stories in this book. He tells them just like you'd hear...

    Hardtimes

Oh, one more thing, Trevor Smith (? I know his first name is Trevor but I'm not sure about his last name) put Billy Palmer on the 1 loss side. Trevor is also playing lights out.

    Hardtimes

Spent the whole day yesterday at HT and watched some great pool! Some resutls: Orcullo beat Kiamco Orcullo beat Gande (sp) Chohan beat Ames Santos and Eddy were still at it at 11:00 last night and I had to leave. Very close match. Billy Palmer was still in it but was on the loser's side. Ed...

    Hardtimes One-pocket event

Ed Ames Ed is a very good banker and plays 1h at a pretty high level. I watched him and Scott Smith playing 1h for a few jelly beans at Reno and Ed got the best of it. I sweated the match for a while and Ed can definitely play 1h. Scott didn't play too bad either btw.

What is the shortest ferrule you have seen?

I had a discussion about this with Bert Shraeger (sp), a cue maker from S. CA. He told me that the only reason most players have a long ivory ferrule is for aesthetics because it does nothing to enhance the performance. As a matter of fact, he went on, the shorter ferrule makes for a much...

    Sandbagging in the APA

Sandbagging, it happens all the time, or does it? I've mentioned this before, that most players have jobs and families and pool is just a hobby for most of them. Given the aforementioned, most players are not consistent in their play. How many of us have can remember a time when we were...

    Can We Talk?!...

This is just one of the reasons that I tend to shy away from tournaments sometimes. I play in them but not as much as I could because you are going to run into some real creeps out there. When you play on your own, you have the ability to choose who you play with. I love to play this game...

    Pool World Loses The Miz

I never met him but I'd just like to say that he gave the game of pool so much over the years and I am certainly grateful for that. My condolences to his family and friends.

    Thanks

Grady, So glad you decided to stay. Some of the people here, very few than God, realize that they are always right and the most intelligent people on the planet, as long as they stay in front of their PC. The ones that are bashing you would never dream of playing you a game of pool for some...
