Thanks for the outpouring of support. I really needed that. I'll stay and learn to use the "ignore" feature. I really never wanted to leave, anyway. This is by far the best forum, even with the weirdos.I heven't posted on recsport in 4 years and not on Cuechalk in 5. I've become friends with many of the nice, intelligent posters here and I've generally had a good time. I love pool and almost all of it's history. Be-lieve me, I've been nice when telling about some of that. When I started I decided to not say anything but good, positive things about the players I wrote about.
But just for my own edification one night I counted to myself and of the people I wrote about there were 6 pedophiles, 22 alcoholic/junkies, etc. The sport doesn't need more press of that nature.I will continue in future postings that trend and only say nice things about everyone.
Thanks again, for the support and encouragement,
Your friend,
Grady Mathews

Grady,

Just saw the other thread and I'm really glad you're staying on. I've been a fan of yours for a very long time.

That was the best news of today. I'm glad that You decided to stay and share Your stories and knowledge with us.

And i do hope that all the others too will share their moments in pool. We have a lot of players living and playing all over the world and i bet that there are some adventures to share...

Grady: good decision and I know you made a whole bunch of people happy and only some sour apples more sour. You should know people respect you and enjoy reading your posts. The internet is just not a good place for an open debate on anything, especially facts  Only a handful of worthy "opponents" to get into a debate knowing that it could be settled in a civilized way. Others regard their internet pride (whatever that is) so highly to make themselves look like jerks and eventually you know who they are and you can ignore them (plonk). Starting a fight isn't difficult, ending the fight with both sides at least content is much more difficult.

Anyway, looking forward hearing more stories of the good ol' days.

Good to hear Grady,
You've got to have thick skin in public forums sometimes and accept some bad to come along with the greater good.

The great majority here I'm sure, feel the richer for many of your contributions here and look forward to more of them :)

Colin

Glad you decided to stay....the one thing I devoloped from years a hardcore pool playing is to have a REALLY thick skin...:( ....mainly from poor sportmanship, but now I'm like cold steel when I play just for that reason....it has to carry over here unfortunately.....

It's just part of the culture of some members of the younger generation Grady. It's hard to get used to but it's just the way some people are, they talk to their "friends" the same way. I just tell myself that these people don't even know me so they must have some other issues in their lives.

BTW, I haven't talked to him but I understand Harold Johnson is in the process of getting a new pool room started up.

Grady,

So glad you decided to stay. Some of the people here, very few than God, realize that they are always right and the most intelligent people on the planet, as long as they stay in front of their PC. The ones that are bashing you would never dream of playing you a game of pool for some cash.

Personally, I love hearing your stories and I really appreciate it when you are candid and honest about your impressions. I know that has gotten you some heat but hey, you have every right to your opinions just like everyone else here.

hey grady I was at raliegh this weekend with my great friends Red,Mary and Niel had to leave during bj 's match with you but I saw score on IPT siteyou gave ol Bj and Faircloth a hand full. I wish like you that you would have won the 4 thousand so you could have that straight pool and 1 pocket tourney I talked to you about, but everything happens for a reason so keep on posting and I'll see you soon.

Grady,

You're the epitome of class from day one.

I changed my avatar to my personal tatoo, inspired by whitewolf's and pete-biker's.

Grady... You're the Alpha male of this pack. I've learned a lot from you.

Grady, this has been a topic on many MBs, with guys like yourself, Blackjack, and others...DON'T DON'T DON'T let a few hecklers who relish getting your goat behind the anonymity of the internet ruin it for hundreds here.
