    how would ya hit it?

thanks for the link. neils is a great player, and I'm always happy to give him a watch/listen about the shot, I like the way the ob moves when the cb is struck how neils describes..looks smooth and I've hit similar various shots this way, just haven't put the time in to do it more..motivated...

    how would ya hit it?

pat and JV, I can see sliding the ob down the long rail on this shot- I can also visualize hitting the pocket point and missing it in the process my understanding is that the "bigger" part of the pocket on this shot is the left side, on the short rail side- is that correct? if that's the case...

    how would ya hit it?

thanks maniac, and all for the replies. the results of this informal poll show that even an "easy" shot like this one can inspire debate, and I'm glad- I've learned from it. in a way, I think that's a point- pool is paradoxically simple and complex. I know that's a big reason why I keep coming...

    Balance point

makes more sense to me..at least some weight has to be in front of the grip hand I'm holding a baby bird over here, but am open to learning about other styles thanks for your pennies, joey

    Balance point

to me this seems variable, if not counterintuitive so many cues come rear-weighted as a stock dimension very few of them feel secure in my bridge..their shafts move around obviously where I'm holding the cue, etc. has an effect but I don't think my technique is too unusual I could kind of see...

    Balance point

some folks obviously don't mind it much, but to me, balance point is a crucial cue aspect it's something I notice pretty quick when I'm down on the table with a cue..just the way it is while I can get along with anything, I feel most at home with a more forward-weighted cue like bob said, if...

Tips for staying focused in chatter-filled friendly matches?

not an instructor looks like the main bases are covered here..much good advice as someone who can relate, I would only add don't focus on the issue instead, let the challenge inspire you to dig deeper/different I used to not like playing when my hands got cold then I decided to play with the...

    about see-saw-y cue/stroke motion

I wasn't initially talking about the pendulum, just the physical motion of the cue seesawing inspired by the course of this discussion, I was able to refine my interest to the pendulum no need to be confused- sometimes it just take time to get to a place, y'know? :)

    about see-saw-y cue/stroke motion

the pendulum..I thought about this last night, and I think the ss motion I was curious about is more about the pendulum than anything else every shot is going to be a little different, and so we can adjust our bodies/how we hold the cue to fit the shot..and there is a pendulum motion to match...

    about see-saw-y cue/stroke motion

sometimes- depends on how long the stroke is, I think. interestingly, in myself I noticed that I did it *only* on the final stroke:unsure: right..but if we're digging into the ball at an angle, even if vertically, doesn't that increase the likelihood of (some/small) twisting, worth avoiding...

    about see-saw-y cue/stroke motion

based on my (so far, minimal) observations, some players do it some of the time do you have any opinion on the ss (seesaw) motion, fran? --- totally. and now let me attempt to refine my thinking on the subject the ss motion could appear counterproductive, because any deviation from a...

    Stroke help

hu, interesting topic.. I began with a longish bridge, then lately, inspired by this place et al., sort of naturally started using a shorter bridge, and I liked it..felt like I had more control it likely helped me, but as a relative novice it's hard to tell what helps and what doesn't sometimes...

    about see-saw-y cue/stroke motion

in this vid john morra stroking his cue in a way that is kind of see-saw-y here- y'all see it? I'm sure everybody does this, tho I'm not 100% why- something to do with the cue angle/stroke length, etc. but it's funny to me, because I only noticed this watching myself play on vid last week so I...
