Does the chalks affect the amount of spin?

I use taom v10 chalk, and inspect the tip after just about every shot to see if it needs a green hit. I did the same with master. taom is clean and works well for me. only thing I don't like is that when I miscue, the taom sometimes get burned onto the cb. re: spin, I don't notice a difference...

Looking for: List of 8ball world champions - 1900's

hi bob, thanks for the tip. reading further, the site from which I grabbed the factoid itself says: "1907: The first mention of eight-ball; it probably evolved from pyramid and other forms of pool in the early 1900s." "1908: Eight-ball is first recorded as being played in the USA." shamos...

Looking for: List of 8ball world champions - 1900's

not sure if it counts for you, as I guess it's not 8-ball as we know it?, but: "Another interesting player to consider as the best ever is Albert M. Frey, who was winning nearly every match almost as soon as the first native American pool games had been invented. According to Michael Phelan...

open vs closed bridge draw shot miscues

dunno if you saw my post above, but I'm picking up what you're laying down I don't have a table here, but I picked up a cue and tried my loop bridge "for draw" you appear to've confirmed what I suspected..my middle finger is supporting to the side so, I think even more so now that I can get my...

open vs closed bridge draw shot miscues

I relate to this, do others, I wonder? I have a few ideas I think could be working separately, but more likely in cahoots my cue balance isn't forward enough for my liking, so when I use an open bridge, I feel less secure drawing the ball- mental insecurity is leading to physical insecurity...

I could be really really good, if I followed a pre shot routine 😢

not an instructor, but I disagree that you can't continue to improve you yourself identified both the problem and the solution, so..? as suggested above, concentration takes practice to master you've improved with time, and work, so just keep going..

    about cue position during shot

without having much experience with the term, this is what I thought. but I honestly dunno. yea, it's counterintuitive to me- but I saw him do it I was lined up in front of of the shot, while the butt remained centered with the cb, but the tip went different places.. I could be wrong, but I...

    about cue position during shot

I was told recently that it's good to keep the butt of the cue lined up through the heart of the cb while shooting, regardless of shot angle/aim one reason, I was told, is that this helps transmit as much energy as possible through the cue ball, and consequently, the object ball question 1: is...

    two questions related to rhythm/stroke

thanks fran, I hear what you're saying the lesson I had was a one-off, so I'm not sure I'll be able to follow up on what I was initially taught this said, I'll try to let the lesson sink in a bit, before jumping on here to question it ^_^

    Low deflection stroke

hu, I actually just had a lesson with double j hisself (my first "proper" lesson!) and we spent some time discussing/playing with this very idea.. pretty interesting, tho I admit a lot of what we discussed went through my ears..I allegedly have the thing taped, but will have to see, then see ^_^...

    two questions related to rhythm/stroke

thanks fran. I admit I'm not convinced either way, but I appreciate your perspective on it and I agree with what y'all are saying about the shot line..going to keep up with that and see how it goes I actually had my first proper lesson yesterday and we worked on my stroke a lot, was a neat...

Do you have a strategy when playing a higher rated player?

yep, no one pays perfect all the time. don't psych yourself out before you play. play as good as you can, mental and physically, and see what happens..
