Gray Cloth at the Mosconi Cup

Here’s a MR event from 2018 in comparison to this year’s MC. The contrast and color saturation is eye straining. Even the ‘21 US Open is a challenge to watch. Blue is good until it’s overdone. Everything from the table, floor, and background ambient light is blue. Makes me drowsy.

Gray Cloth at the Mosconi Cup

I like the cloth/ball combination. Looks more like taupe than gray to me. Would I put this on my own table? Possible. This cloth ball combination is the best I’ve seen to distinguish the balls. Much improved from a viewing distance than the blue cloth/Aramith TV set where the 3-4-5 all look...

    Using bowlliards to track progress?

I play the strict BCA rules, BiH in the kitchen after each break, cue ball remains in position after a miss. Much more difficult and requires some two-way thinking when I inevitably get out of shape on ball #1. Needless to say my high score is 80 something.

Tell us about your "cue journey"

My first good cue was a Viking with linen wrap, a 16th birthday present. Carried that cue for 25 years when it started to look and feel tired. Then I had some money to try something else so I got a Pechauer USA about 10 years ago and it’s been my main stick since. About a year ago I picked up...

BilliardManager - Your pool tracking app for iOS and Android

Finally logged 1000 balls and unlocked the expanded analysis. Very cool, but I have to admit this app is wasted on a D player such as myself. Enjoying it 👍🏼😎

American Straight Pool Championship - Oct 19th to 23rd *free* live streaming

I wonder how the modern guys would play wearing tuxedos, suits and ties with all ball fouls.

    Pocket size?

I grew up playing on a 4x8 with what I think were (at least) 5” shallow sloped craters. A ball could be completely within the jaws and you could fire another ball right past without even a nudge. Needless to say when I grew up 30 years later I wanted something with a challenge, and the 4.5...

RDS 100 CHALLENGE – Enter for Free and Win Prizes

I’ve been revisiting the RDS, and I am preferring to get into a groove and stick with a level longer than three attempts to determine whether my level advances, stays, or demotes. I find myself jumping back and forth too much with only three racks at a level. So what percentages are...

    Home Room Project

I realized the trim work came after table and light installation. The light is a no-frills 4 can light with LED bulbs. I think they’re daylight 5000k but I’d have to check. Also added cheapish horizontal blinds on the windows. Other than some slight furniture changes this is basically the...

    Home Room Project

We did the best we could with keeping the flooring 1/4 inch away from the walls, but ultimately the trim molding didn’t quite cover some gaps so we needed to finish with quarter round on the three plaster walls. The stucco wall gap was filled with clear silicone. One of these pictures was...

Changes in Your Pool Game that Can Help the Most

Every time decades of bad habits creep back into my playing, I will think of this video. Some of these points I’ve fixed, and others are a continual work in progress. ‘Smart eye pattern’ is something I’ve never given much thought, but mine definitely needs attention. Thanks as always for...

Table Difficulty Factor (TDF) for measuring table "toughness"

Hi, just to confirm, it’s a Gold Crown V Tournament Edition, not a IV. Which brings me to a thought about the toughness scale. The baseline uses the WPB specs used for professional tournaments, correct? If so, does this skew the curve and place the vast majority of recreational tables...

    Golf versus Pool

Probably won’t see many golfers professional or otherwise all wearing black on a sunny summer day. It’s been a while since I’ve golfed, but I don’t recall any well dressed people at the local public course I played. Mostly shorts and t-shirts. And everyone was too far away to read what...

    Carom ball sets - question/recommendations

I picked up the Carom set and they appear to rebound fine on my GC5. The larger size takes a little getting used to, they seem like grapefruits in comparison to regulation 2.25” balls. Potting is slightly more challenging, which is good. Agree that English Billiards on a snooker table is...

    Home Room Project

On to flooring; vinyl plank. Saved some money installing this ourselves. Lots of work with cutting, choosing planks so the whole pattern looked random, and tapping and hammering, but thankfully it was straightforward with no odd cuts and angles. Even though we measured the area what seemed...

    Home Room Project

Almost a year after breaking ground we’re painting. Took some time to settle on shades, but what we finally decided worked well. The blue could have been a bit darker but no big deal. All I recall was it was August, warm, and muggy. No A/C yet, that’s a whole other story for later.
