    Do I need a dehumidifier?

I kind of laughed when I read that 45% humidity is high. 45% humidity would be a dream. I’m dealing with swings between 50-70%, all year around. I’ve already broken one dehumidifier, and I’m not bothering with another. Can not wait until my room finally gets its electrical upgrade to get a...

    Dynasphere Bronze balls......$100

Looks like the Platinum Dynaspheres come in the traditional colors too. In China.

    Cowboy / Scoring 11

Recently my sparring partner and I have tried out Cowboy for a change. Great game. However it’s curious how 11 points could be scored in a single stroke. According to the scoring rules, the CB must contact all three balls and all three must be pocketed. 9 points for each OB face value (1, 3...

    Aramith Tournament, Traditional or TV?

    Aramith Tournament, Traditional or TV?

I think the TV set looks good on the blue cloth, the traditional set on green. The 4/12 pink and 7/15 brown seem to look better on the blue cloth.

    Pool Ball Collecting.

Decided to keep them. I’m being a little over the top particular with the whites. Maybe I should smoke a little weed too, it’ll take the edge off. 😄 I’ve been watching some footage using similar Tournament sets and closeup views show the whites aren’t 100% white from ball to ball, so it’s...

    Pool Ball Collecting.

If they’re fake I can’t tell from the packaging. It came with the Aramith shrink wrap, the brochure of authenticity, and the box, plastic tray with Aramith logo, and overall packaging is the same as my Aramith Black set. If there’s any difference in packaging, the Tournament set has glossy...

    Pool Ball Collecting.

I just got a new set of Aramith Tournaments and noticed the white colors in the stripe balls aren’t exactly the same from ball to ball. The 10 and 14 are bright white, the 11 appears the most off-white to yellow, and the others are somewhere in the middle of the spectrum. Even the ‘eyes’ in...

    Equal Offense II

Been a few months and 16 sessions since the last update. After nearly dropping below a 120 average on the three miss level in February, I’ve rebounded nicely since then. Still have to break my 100 average goal at the two miss level, but things are trending back upward. While I can’t blame...

    Brunswick Centennials or Aramith Tournaments?

Didn’t know about the Aramith Pros and Centennial resin similarity. Great info, thx! 👍

    Brunswick Centennials or Aramith Tournaments?

I’m admitting I’d rather collect ball sets over cues. I’ve got a set of Aramith Tournaments on order, and I’ve already got a set of late model Centennials made by Aramith. I’m predicting they’ll play identically, but the Tournaments are too good looking to pass up. I’ll probably take a ball...

    Dynasphere Tungsten balls -Awesome !

Yeah, the Bronze set is good looking and classic. What‘s odd about the Dynasphere sets is there’s no explaining all the different colors from set to set. With Dynasphere if you like the pink 4 you have two options. If you want the green 6, a single option. Light blue means #2 in Tungsten...

    The need for joint protectors?

Once upon a time I never used them, now I can’t live without them. Part of the cue ritual.

    Dynasphere Tungsten balls -Awesome !

I like mine, colors and all. Owner of Centennials, Aramith Blacks, Aramith Premiums, and Dynasphere Platinums. If there was any flaw with the Dynaspheres (and this is far from a deal breaker) is the whites in the stripes are not consistent from ball to ball. Some are white like the QB, but...

How much louder is a break cue than using a regular cue for breaking?

To me, the sound of a phenolic tip hitting the CB on a break is the same loudness as the CB hitting the rack. Here’s me breaking with a phenolic tip. And for what it’s worth, I’ve ditched the phenolic break cue for another break cue with hard tip.

    Gold Crown 6

I can answer this; I was in the market for a Gold Crown late 2019, stalked the Brunswick website for months beforehand. Brunswick had the 5 TE and 6 listed, and the 5 was about a grand less. I inquired with my local Brunswick dealer and they weren’t certain the 5 was still available from the...

    Gold Crown 6

I agree I agree, don’t see how the 5 fails to fall in line with the previous GC‘s other than the updated ball box. The 5 Castings look like the 4 (flush with the pockets), both the 4 & 5 have no score counters or builder plate. The 6 seems to stretch the GC tradition, but it’s still says GC...

RDS 100 CHALLENGE – Enter for Free and Win Prizes

This answered my question about level 6, but the RDS document bullet point could be updated to say ‘play standard 8-ball rules, except take cue ball in hand after the break and once any time during the run’ similar to the Level 5 wordage. I was almost positive another BiH was permitted at...

    Equal Offense II

I could only make a wild guess, maybe 550-600? @dr_dave might be able to help, I was referring to his ratings chart here: https://billiards.colostate.edu/bd_articles/2020/dec20.pdf I‘m probably a 300 Fargo, 350 on a good day.
