    wax bulge

best answer posted in another forum: Clamb: >>Had the exact same problem. The temporary fix I used was to find yourself a half inch drive socket, (3/8 will do, just use a the biggest one you have) roll it over the raised wax with as much pressure as you need. Worked like a charm with no ill...

    wax bulge under table cloth

i did what Clamb and Glen suggested, and rolled it out with a socket, and that did a good enough job to get me through the next couple of months. there is still a tiny ridge there, but the ball no longer makes any noise going over it. if i roll a ball slowly at an oblique angle across it, it...

    My 25 Cent Chalk Holder...

this is sheer genius. you realize that both Karen and Darren often use chalk pockets, right? but i love this solution -- had all the parts laying about already. and it even works with the metal holder for one of my store-bought magnetic chalk holders, but it's more convenient because i can put...

thanks for sounding in, Glen -- gives me more confidence this is the right route!

thanks, Steve! the 44 is even quicker, and way less iffy shots. the thing that's really encouraging is that i'm starting to have multiple runs in this range, not just one a month or a week, but almost daily or even a couple times in a session.

    wax bulge under table cloth

thanks, yes, i'm sure the slates shifted, which is what pushed the wax up into a little ridge. the humidity in the room is pretty steady in the low 30's, but as i said, the temperature swings a lot, and the heater blows almost straight onto that seam -- and not the other one, which is ok -- from...

    wax bulge under table cloth

i've got a GC II that has been moved twice for me. after the first install it was up for about 8 months, and then stored for year, then put into the condo i'm now renting, downstairs in a basement on a concrete floor. the same guy did the install both times: the first time, no issues, this time...

and a 44 today, in 18 minutes. getting more fluid and natural. jumped up in the air on a secondary breakshot, less than 2' long. argh. http://youtu.be/8RwFZIniEYw

    Advice on break shots

interesting, Dan. one of the things i discovered from video last fall that led to my rapid runup in skill was that my elbow was pulling sharply in on power shots. but my solution was opposite yours: i found that if i used the stance recommended in Play Great Pool, it made the situation worse...

    getting there...

ran a 38 and a 45 today, both ended on silly misses. the 2nd one was, uh, a little athletic in places. here's the 45, 22 minutes: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eLiUBsehfRM

    Some 14.1 from Stockholm!!

Hej Tony, thank you for making and posting this -- and NO apology necessary for the Swedish commentary!!! i've been working on my Swedish (i go there every year or so for traditional music and dance), and it's Great to have this video with commentary on pool, which i know well so i can figure...

    Some 14.1 from Stockholm!!

beautiful, beautiful video, the best i've ever seen. at 4:18:00, Larsson scratches because his opponent gives him a crooked rack; you can see it very clearly in the overhead shot of the racking, and i saw the scratch coming as a result.

    Brunswick Ranchero cushions

a friend just got a Brunswick Ranchero 7' for free, and set it up himself in his basement. it's a pretty good fit for what he needs, and the price was right! but he'd like to replace the cushions, which are really, really shot. anyone know what profile he needs -- i know squat about cushions...

Do you remember how your high runs progressed?

played for 2 years in high school, around 1965-67, maybe a couple times a week, high run was 29. then went away to school and got busy with a wife and a career and forgot all about it. 40 years later [!] i woke up one day and said to mysefl "pool. what ever happened to pool? i used to Like to...

Can we examine room/table size in a different way?

i disagree with those saying a 9 footer won't work. because i Have a 9' Gold Crown II in a room only 13' exactly wide, 2" less room than you have. i'm using a Trouble Shooter 48" cue in it, and could easily have gone with their 52" instead (btw, that's the short cue you want, it's balanced way...
