100+ Ball Run after the Opening Break

well, Mike Sigel's 150 and out against Mike Zuglan (accustats) for starters. i'm sure there are many more.

2015 AZ Billiards Straight Pool Challenge!

thank you, Steve! yeah, i kinda got cautious on the bs. i especially tend to do that when i'm reaching, which most people wouldn't have to on that shot. :/ the camera angle makes the cuts i had on the 5 those 2 times look far straighter than it was; the first time the table was crowded in weird...

2015 AZ Billiards Straight Pool Challenge!

thanks, Steve! well put: i painted Myself into a corner, starting at 21:00 when i bumped the 4 ball that i was trying to slide by; it went up table, no harm there, but bumped the 1-ball which closed the cluster up. up 'til then, everything still went if i did it in the right order, and would...

2015 AZ Billiards Straight Pool Challenge!

put me down for a 51 tonight, 5/18/15. much better rhythm and flow; 26 minutes, half what it took me to run my first 50+ last fall. in about 2 weeks i should finally be able to play more, looking forward to it because i appear to be in stroke. video: http://youtu.be/ojrdSDKxBq0 once again...

Mike Sigel 150 & Out vs Jim Rempe

thank you, Steve! i like this even better than the 150 against Zuglan, even though it's not as clean. some exciting play, and i'm way impressed by how much trouble he goes to in order to not bump any balls.

    Ternament shakes

a very good natural cure for this is to eat a banana about 45 minutes before you start playing. bananas contain a natural beta blocker, very mild, and are used by many performers in theater, music, etc. i've used them in that domain myself, and the symptoms are exactly the same as those in pool.

    racking

yes, i thought of that, Tony, and in fact, it's the only thing that really would make sense to me. but the way they're doing it looks too fast for that to be the case.

    racking

so, to avoid doing my work... i've been watching some of the DCC runs that Dennis has put up. i notice that both Warren Kiamco and Nick van den Berg often swap balls around while racking, and i'm wondering what that's about. it doesn't seem in any way premeditated or have any obvious pattern...

    Talking End Patterns

interesting layout, Steve -- geez, there are Tons of possible patterns here. i'm assuming that stripe on the right is your break ball, even though it looks high in the pic? i'll tell you what i *don't* like, and that's ending with 14-3. it's a classic, but i hate all the angles involved in this...

    Advice on break shots

this idea of predicting where the cue ball will go based on what ball you're hitting has me... well, not confused, maybe more not believing it has much merit. i see many people, especially the Europeans, studying the rack like this intently for a fair amount of time, and then their results are...

    Driving to SBE from MA

i have made this trip over 100 actual times, at all times of the day and night. the tappan zee route is an automatic extra 45 minutes, minimum (plus it can also back up), and 84 in CT is a disaster always, Always, ALWAYS. the slowdowns on 95 can be avoided easily if you do it right. the least...

    OB-122 cue with Classic shaft

**** no longer available **** i believe this is the handsomest cue in OB's line. it's hard to see in pictures, but the silver dash inlays against the black are truly elegant. i Really wish i could keep this cue, but i got it after playing with a Lucasi SP for 4 years, and i've become too used...

    getting there...

thanks, Steve -- i really owe most of what i know to you, especially patterns and knowledge about when and how to go into the balls, but also just seeing you play again a few months ago showed me just how much focus i Didn't have, and that was Huge. you predicted all of this 2 years ago -- i...

    My 25 Cent Chalk Holder...

i think the beauty of this approach is there's no "in". ;) another discovery tonight: if you use magnets of different diameter, they're Much easier to separate, and putting the larger one in your pocket makes the whole deal easier and better. they don't even have to be very different in size...

    getting there...

let me reassure Steve that i am not after speed for speed's sake! much of my comment is just a reaction to my first 50+ run taking 36 minutes. that is surely slow by anyone's clock, and an artifact i think of the stage i was at and my interest in making my first big round number. i was happy...

    My 25 Cent Chalk Holder...

i just superglued a #10 washer to a piece of Predator chalk last night. seems to work great so far. it appears to me that the *bottom* paper on the Predator chalk is overlain by the side wrap. i superglued to the bottom, and i'm not expecting it to come loose. time will tell.
