    Layered tip care

The reason I don't like a tip pick is because I can't see a visual difference in the tip after working it over. With a Willard or LastForever tool, I can see a "new surface" on the tip. Just my preference. I use those tools very gently on the tip so that wear is minimal. My Moori tip is over...

    Layered tip care

Dick, I'm certain you know more about tips than I do, but I occasionally use a Willard shaper very gently on my Moori soft tip. Just a trace of debris comes off. I've been using the same tip for over a year and haven't had any hardening, mushrooming or glazing over. There's still quite a bit...

New Tip Centering tool for cue repair.

I have two Delrin centering tools very similar in design to yours. One is 13mm and the other is a 14mm tool. They are excellent aids to getting that tip on exactly centered. No wobble in the lathe after the tip in on the shaft. I saw a u-tube demo of the Unique tool and noticed that it was...

    Can you wash cloth?

I would imagine that dry cleaning might run $20-$30, but I could be wrong. Hopefully, dry cleaning won't shrink the cloth any. If it were me, I'd just bite the bullet and look for a deal on Simonis 860HR. Good luck with whatever you decide. If you dry clean, let us know how it turns out.

    Gandy Big G identification

We have two in our Community Center. We had Donny of SD Billiards recover and install new rubber a few years ago. They play great. If he's selling it cheap, by all means buy it, I'm sure you'll like it. Let us know what you decide to do.

Efren was in Norway this weekend :-)

When I was in the navy, years ago, our ship - the USS Northampton (a cruiser) visited Bergen. A truly grand city. I'm certain Efren enjoyed his visit too. He's a marvelous player and a real gentleman.

    Mosconi captain

It's a big gamble with Earl. Can he keep his cool when the going gets rough (or more when the crowd gets rough)? But, I'd throw the dice with Earl. Why, because Team USA needs a shake-up. Team USA has players with the potential to be historic. But it seems that each year they're very...

Pool players who take Vicodin or Hydrocodone

Have you talked to your doctor about it? I take 2 Hydrocodones a day because of a lower back problem. Some days I'll skip them but I don't experience any sign of unreasonable anger issues. I googled side effects of hydrocondone and got this information: All medicines may cause side effects...

Can someone explain why Earl used to just take one look and fire the ball in?

No doubt that Earl is one of the greatest pool players in the world. But only God and Earl know how much work, sweat, and tears Earl put into his practice in the early years to develop that natural talent. He put the hours in and deserves the wins.

Poll to prove that 8 ball is a good game

It's not what I think is a good game but it's what you think is a good game. If you enjoy playing 8 ball, then it's a good game. If 40,000 vote it's a bad game, and you still enjoy playing it, then it's a good game to you. But I'll go along with you and vote that it's a good game too.

What's your favorite Aftermarket Shaft on a schon butt?

I shoot with a Schon CX-06 and a McDermott I-3. The I-3 comes with a Moori Soft tip. The tip diameter is 11.75mm. This combination of butt and shaft feels perfectly balanced to me. The small tip diameter gives me a sense of geometric precision where I strike the cue ball. The Moori tip...

    Kamuii Chalk!!!!!

I'm the same way. I use Master's green chalk. It's part of my pre-shot routine. Chalking gives me time to evaluate the shot and decide what I have to do to obtain position for the next shot. Plus I'm too cheap to spend that kind of money on chalk.

    Storing a pool table...HELP!

Storing a pool table outside may present a myriad of problems depending upon your location. Depending on environmental conditions, wood can absorb moisture or dry out, it can expand or contract, etc. I live in the high desert area of California and have seen temperatures of 124 degress in...

    Philippine "Pool" Trivia Question

I think someone, a while back, had posted a picture of this. Sounds like an interesting game. When I was a boy, there was a game similar to this. Regular checkers on one side of the table and then playing the checkers into pockets with a cue. Can't for the life of me think of the name...

How often do you pick a layered tip?

Joel, I bought your Last 4 Ever aluminum tip tool last month and it does a magnificent job. It's small and fits in my cue case very well. I like it better than the Willard tip tool I've used for years. I "scuff" my cue tip (Moori Soft) before each playing session. Thanks for developing a...
