What is "Pool" in the Philippines? Hint--the "balls" aren't round. It's played on many street corners in the Barangay. It's played everywhere, the table spins.

"Trivia" question, no one knows the answer????

You have to know Pinoy culture... get off the beaten path's of Manila. It ain't the PI, It's "Manila". You won't find it on the NET.

In the local vernacular, "Pool" is a street game commonly played in neighborhoods at trike stands and Sari Sari stores. The "table" is a flat slick surface about 3ft square. Corner pockets only. Played with a cue, the "balls", aren't round...they are flat, like air hockey "pucks". One doesn't walk around the table, it's like a Lazy Suzan. you spin it around

Anything played on a proper table with Cloth and six pockets is "billiards". Unless they have lived in Manila and have become "westernized". Ask 'em, they know what it is.

I think someone, a while back, had posted a picture of this. Sounds like an interesting game. When I was a boy, there was a game similar to this. Regular checkers on one side of the table and then playing the checkers into pockets with a cue. Can't for the life of me think of the name. Thanks for the post - you get a greenie from me. I'd enjoy seeing any pics you have of pool or billiards in the philippines.

Disc pool (pool. commonly called in local dialect) table varies from 3'x3' rotatating top to 3'x6' 4-6 pockets variant.
