    Ridgeback Rails- Great Service

I shipped Ken my old Global rails and he shipped me back new Ridgeback rails that fit perfectly on my Global bar box. The difference in play was like night and day. This was about two years ago and the table is still playing great. Great rails at a good price.

Leather wrap template and cutting guide

Just finished watching the 3 part video on YouTube from Cuejo. Just search "leather wrap cuejo". Thanks Cuejo for taking the time to film the procedure so that others may learn how to do it. You're a great guy.

    practice (video)

Nice long stroke with a lot of follow through. Great draw back action with the cue. Several comments on this thread about your shooting too quickly. Nothing wrong with that if you know what you want to do with the cue ball. If you had taken an extra moment on the 5 ball shot you probably...

    8ball or 9ball

Me too. I prefer 8 ball because each game is so different and requires some thoughts about how to run out. In 9 ball you know that after you sink the 2 ball you'll be shooting at the 3 ball. Not so in 8 ball. Depending on how you played position, you might have to change your plans and...

What type of balls should I buy?

Sorry to hear you're having a problem with burn marks. I have been using an Aramith Premium ball set for about 3 years now on Simonis 860R with very little burn marks. If I were to buy another set, I would purchase the Super Pro's because of the new resin they use for longer life of the balls...

    dime or nickel shape tip??

I shoot with a Schon CX06 fitted with a McDermott I-3 shaft and a Moori soft tip. The tip diameter is 11.75 mm so I prefer a dime shaped tip. The tools I've found to be most useful for shaping tips are the Last4Ever and the Willards. I used the Willard for years but then bought a Last4Ever and...

    Gandy rails

We have two Gandy G's in my club-house and both play very well. Haven't experienced any ball hopping no matter how hard the cue ball is struck into a cushion. It may be possible that the wrong cushions were installed on your table when it was last re-cushioned and recovered. If you could...

Opinion: Effect of rack on breaking.

A buddy of mine played some 8 ball this morning. We both live in an over 55 community and we're both about equal in playing skill. Most usually either he or I will win the monthly 8 ball Tournament. We play on either of 2 nine-foot Gandy G tables. The rack that is used is plastic from...

    Strickland/Reyes Match

Thanks for all the updates. I guess I missed a great match up. I'm 80 and still shooting the best pool of my life (not great but not too bad either). I'm certain Earl will be playing great at 80 (and that goes as well for Efren). The pool gods are on their side.

    thoughts on this 9 footer

When I lived in Lexington, Ky. I bought a similar looking 1928 Brunswick 9 footer. Played magnificently and enjoyed it immensely for 6 years before I moved to Tucson. Good luck with the table - I know you'll enjoy playing on it for many years to come.

    Pool table advice

I'd go for the bar box. I bought a used Global for $150. Ordered new Ridgeback rails and had Donny of SD Billiards recover with Simonis 860HR and set the table up for me. Plays like a dream.
