This Chicken Is Stuck At The Coop

I bet Earl let out a big sigh of relief when he got the news about your cooping out.

Mosconi Cup - The Players Demeanor, Prep & Coaching

Well written synopsis and I couldn't agree more. Team Europe had that touch of class while Team USA showed very little.

Refinishing Pool Table - Removing Top Coat??

If you took a poll probably a large percentage of AZ'ers would vote no for red cloth. I'm very partial to Tournament Blue but some players would also prefer Simonis Green. The red tires the eye quickly while the blue is very soothing after playing for several hours. Red cloth would look good...

    Mosconi Cup: December 2-5, 2013

I'm a big fan of the Mosconi Cup. While I'd like Team USA to win, and I'm rooting for them, I'm happy just watching good play regardless of who wins. Does anyone know if the games are being televised and if so, what channel and times?

    Schon, schuler, or pechauer

I shoot with a Schon CX-06 along with a McDermott I-3. The I-3 has a 11.75mm Moori Soft tip on it which allows me to strike the cue ball with geometric precision. The combo has an excellent balance, hit, and feel. But as pointed out in several of the responses, ilt's what you feel when you...

    Have't finished lesson yet.

Hope your health continues to improve. Your 8 ball video is the best tutorial for that game I've seen. Wish I could spend some time with you and shoot a few. Enjoy Thanksgiving and the Christmas holidays too. God bless whatever endeavors you undertake.

Real King Cobra - Give Credit Where Credit is Due

One of the things I admire about Glen is that is anyone asks a question relevant to pool tables, Glen usually responds with some good information. He's always ready to share his vast knowledge. My hat's off to you Glen...

    Very cheap homemade lathe

I had a similar setup about 3 years ago before I ran across a Harbor Freight metal lathe in a garage sale for $100. I used a can with a smooth bottom as a platform and used a utility knive blade to trim the edge of the tip and then to shape it to a dime diameter. Worked really well.

    Chinese made Pool tables

I'd like to place a bet on you. When and at what track will you be riding, and will you be riding Mr. Diamond again? I'm sure you're a winner against those Chinese nags...

    860 in So. Calif

Donny did our two Gandy nine-footers and they play super. He also did my Global bar box. He's worked with the RealKingCobra. Donny's a true craftsman, takes his time, and does fine work. Contact him and he can give you a quote for recovering the table (including the Simonis cloth).

I'm bought a Brunswick Annv 8 1/2" I need help knowing what tools I need

Congratulations on aquiring a beautiful table. The BasementDweller and Scott Lee list the tools you'll need. All I can mention is that perhaps a dolly would be great for moving the slate to your truck and some rope to secure all the parts once they're on the truck. You may want to bring along...

Smaller tip diameter makes you more focused?

My cue is a Schon with a McDermott I-3 shaft (11.75mm tip diameter) with a Moori Soft tip. I get the feel of accuracy and geometric precision where I hit the cue ball. The cue ball doesn't always do what I would like it to do, but generally obeys on occasion. I have always preferred a small...

Anyone put any wax on their cue?

I use Butcher's Bowling Alley wax on both shafts and butts. It's a cleaning wax so it does a great job on my shafts.

    Custom Pool Table Light

Very nice indeed. You've done a great job and it was very thoughtful of you to post each step of the process. I'm thinking of building a light myself but I'm leaning toward using LED's because of the weight. Trust you'll post some final pics of the light mounted over your table.

    Welcome back Earl:

Earl is certainly one of this century's greatest pool players. It's a thrill to have him back on the Mosconi Cup team this year. Regardless of whether the USA wins, loses or draws, we'll be seeing some outstanding pool. Good luck Earl and Team USA.

2014 Mosconi Cup: Team Europe v. Team Asia

I would love to see Asia get into the fray. Don't know what the format would be but a three way race for the cup (Europe, USA, and Asia) would be great. There are so many great Asian players right now and that would make selecting a team most challenging. As far as the Mosconi cup goes, I'm...

Wax off Wax on, what wax do you use?

I use Butchers Bowling Alley Wax on both the cue shaft and the cue butt. I've tried several car waxes but Butchers seems to do the best job of cleaning and making the shaft glide effortlessly. On a new shaft I'll "sand" the shaft with various grades of microgrit film and then run a dry strip...

    Whats your favorite tip tool

The two I've found to be most useful are the Last4Ever and the Willards. I used the Williard for years but then bought a Last4Ever and like it better.

Inexpensive setup to do your own tips ...

I used a rubber cane tip purchased from Walgreen's Drug Store for around $3.00 for a shaft holder. I also used a crutch tip for a butt holder on a 1 piece cue. Drill a hole in the center and then install a 1/4" or 3/8" bolt so that you can mount it on an electric drill. I had a similiar set...

    Valley Bar Box Rails

I installed new Ridgeback rails on my Global bar box. Sent the old ones and they duplicated them. They play extremely well - just run a search here on this forum for Ridgeback rails and you'll see just a slew of endorsements. And the pricing is very competitive.
