With the Mosconi Cup right around the corner, many of us pool aficionados, fans, and enthusiasts are gearing up for the battle. It is always a professionally run event, enjoyed by all. It's kind of nice that the 20th anniversary is on the U.S. home court.

With that said, all pool websites are well aware of this event happening next week. I wonder if Matchroom or anybody else, for that matter, will see to it that it gets mentioned in the American mainstream sports news. I would think this could be a golden opportunity to let pool shine brightly in a good way.

I realize Matchroom is busy preparing for this venue, but I hope the news of the Mosconi Cup happening is disseminated to non-pool-related media sources.

Everybody on the pool websites has their opionion. I just read that Rodney Morris predicts the sore to be 11 to 5, favor of Team USA. I like his enthusiasm. :D

I'm thinking the score is going to be close this year. I don't think one team will run away with it. What do you think? I think there's going to be a tiebreaker match.

Should be exciting as always. We have a good team, and Earl's back. I really hope Earl can play well, and be a positive influence on the whole match. Pleeeeze Earl, you can do it.

I'm kind of thinking there's a faction of Mosconi Cuppers who are hoping Earl flips out. :embarrassed2:

I love Earl any way I can get him when he plays pool. The only thing about Earl getting upset, however, is that it does affect the strength of his game. In this regard, I pray Earl doesn't let anything get under his skin. :p

If American mainstream media could broadcast just a video snippet of this event, I think it would give pool a boost. I wish somebody would follow through and figure out how to make it happen.

I'm wondering how matchroom can afford the payouts. 150K added with no entry fees.

Last I watched the worldcup for a day, I think it was maybe $3 for a day of viewing.

Do they get a ton of sponsorship?

I'm a big fan of the Mosconi Cup. While I'd like Team USA to win, and I'm rooting for them, I'm happy just watching good play regardless of who wins. Does anyone know if the games are being televised and if so, what channel and times?

I think you can purchase them on the Mosconi Cup website: http://www.matchroompool.com/mosconi-cup

Last year, I was able to watch it for FREE on my computer via my Comcast channel. We have Comcast as our provider of cable TV, and they showed it LIVE on ESPN-2 or ESPN-something. It was great, and best of all, it was FREE!
