Not sure what to tell you. Hitting a billiard ball is a completely different experience from hitting a pool ball and there is absolutely a discernable difference between quality shafts...and especially between those and mid-grade ones.

The balls need to be racked on the spot, so there is a like 2+ cm of vertical wiggle room there. Helpful sometimes.
