Guess? Big boy cue in the works.

Big boy I would have sworn that was Pete's "fullsplice" bridged veneers. Andy and Vicki are hitting it out of the park.

has anyone else seen this, bumpers?

Brent, That has to be the worst looking calipers I have ever seen. And I have some that are pretty poor looking. They are on sale at Harbor Freight:smile:

    Kiln vs. Air dried playability

kiln Well crap, guess I just haven't been making it complicated enough. 3/16 bosch straight router bit, plain old taig headstock and tailstock. To everything turn, turn turn The Byrds

    Kiln vs. Air dried playability

air dried Bought a slab of air dried birdseye that had been cut in 1936. Had it in my shop for over a year. Cut it into forearm blanks. All but one of the 12 blanks warped and just wouldn't stay straight. The good one was pretty nice, but I've had kiln dried that were just as nice or better.

Linen Based Phenolic Resin - anyone DIY?

phenolic resin I played with the idea sometime ago, then I read this article. http://www.compositesworld.com/columns/composites-past-present-future-phenolics-revisited Figured I let someone else do it. You may be able to cast some parts out of polyester resin, but I have no idea on durability.

    Looking to start making cues

looking to start Well the old saying that there is no thing as a dumb question, doesn't always apply at AZ. In this case the gentleman(even if he was a Marine) came on, gave us some background, told us specifically what he wanted to do and why. And guess what, he got a civil answer. Usually...

Joe Whitten built me a sweet little 1x2 for my Gina box cue

Joe Whitten What a great combo. I've had Joe make several custom cases for special cues. Every time he has knocked it out of the park.

    CNC Inlay Machine Design

Cnc If you go single, I'd go in the middle between the rails. You can do offset, but risk skewing under a heavy load. As you are finding out, every thing in cnc design is give and take. 25mm ball screw has plenty capacity. The extra diameter will stiffen the set up(that's a good thing)...

    5c spin indexer

Think you are over thinking it. It's how you read the degrees you are set at, like a micrometer. http://www.grizzly.com/products/5-C-Spin-Index/G5649 zoom in the picture and you'll see the indexer is set to 305

Nothing Forsale...Just showing off my Lathe cabinet I made..

Sam's Club Very good quality for the price. Dan Dishaw has had one at the Expo for around 3 years. We have 2 storage cabinets, one smaller tool chest and the tool bench in the shop. All work great. Nice clean people guard. Looks like it came with the bench.

    paint gun question

paint gun Sata mini jet 2, for clear coat. But it depends on what you want to shoot. You can do a lot with needle size and air pressure settings. The smaller you atomize the finish the smooth( read less sanding) you will get. Many guns will shoot a nice finish, only thing I have noticed...

    CNC Inlay Machine Design

CNC design That's a great looking machine. Looks like a lot of thought went into it. Can't say enough good things about Cast plate. It's much more stable than formed 6061. Anytime you machine 6061 it tends to move. Just like wood it has internal stresses(from the extruding/forming...

Found this interesting for making adjustable tail stock

Just remember, you aren't turning between centers anymore you are turning between the sides of the centers. Won't notice on thick pieces, but thin pieces will have a preload on them.
