    A Players 'Union'?

Baseball Unions and Football Unions I feel have ruined sports. And thanks to these Unions we pay $6 for a hot dog, $8 for a beer, and the mark up on a product that bears that name is great. We sell pool balls that have College Team Logos on them for around $200. They are not great balls...

I am heading to ATL- Mr. Cues II this Thurs

Yeah. But Pop's could kick the crap out of any jealous boyfriend/husband/lesbian husband. Is Pops even kicking around? I haven't heard anything from him in a while. He use to stop by our store now and again but it's been a while. I think he has a bar on Baxter street now. To the person...

    Table Mechanics tell your storie

The funniest stories I heard came from well... Let's just say that company that all you old table mechanics seemed to have work for. I forgot who did it at that store but I heard a story where someone had a yapping dog. Like a chihuahua or a jack russel. They hit it on the head with a tack...

Starrett 12" level: How level is level?

I think it is 3 lines on a 12" level is suppose to be specs. And even with low quality tables you can get it dead level. The only problem is how long will a low quality table stay level. We have a 12". I forget the actual specs. But if you place a $1 bill underneath 1 side it will raise it...

i want to add table sales to my pool hall

I heard Diamond only requires 5 tables to be purchased. 1 has to be the Diamond Pro Cut with the Diamond light and other various diamond stuff on display and for customers to use and play on.

I am heading to ATL- Mr. Cues II this Thurs

There is a good 1pocket tournament on Wednesday. It will generally draw out Paul Song, Alice Rim, and many strong players. Cliff Joyner will come out sometimes too. Infact most people playing in there (They average 20 players) I believe are considered to strong for APA or would be ranked 8s...

    tell me about simonis 860

I love Simonis 860. It's the only cloth I would ever have on a pool table. And most customers I have had that put it on loved it. And not just because of how it played. They all felt it looked better than the regular cloth. I've used other cloths too. But many of them have a lot of strecth...

    A Players 'Union'?

Unions are the best way to ruin anything. Having IPT players Unionize I would feel kill the IPT for sure. Because instead of the owners and organizers of the IPT trying to figure out the best way to run the business. You'll have a Union Rep in there also doing what is best for the players...

    Table ID

Well it's not a Carom for sure. Carom tables don't have pockets. It looks to be a T-rail. Or if you look at the rail sideways it makes a T. Hoever I can't really tell. The slate doesn't look backed either. Which most T-rails I've delt with have backed slate. And the wood inserts on the...

    Earl The Pearl

I remember seeing the match last night. I'd probably just blow him off if I was playing. I've played a couple of people like that. Now if I was in the stands I'd be a smart ass for sure. However I do feel this is good for the IPT. People love drama like this and it could help make the show...

If you were stuck on a desert island with a pool table...

Well I'd really prefer a 1week supply of Hustler. (Aprx 30issues). Or Wilson But with the choices given I am torn. I don't use powder anyways so I can count that out. If I have to I guess I could use dry sand. I could probably figure out how to make a rack. I don't like ball returns. Now...

    Table ID

Being in 4 peices it probably is a snooker table. If not a Carom. The best way to measure the size is to look at the screw holes on a peice of slate. Measue from screw hole to screw hole across the slate (like you would measure from Side pocket to Side Pocket). If it is 44" or so it's an 8'...

Break with your fancy playing cue..?

I break with my Schon. I love the way it breaks. I bought a Georgia Tech cue from our shop becuase the wrap felt somewhat similar and I liked the feel along with it being fairly cheap. But I wish the shaft was not as flimsy. I think it is a players. I had an aftermarket Universal Smart...

    Transporting a table

Slate humper is right. There are times where we might have 3tables in the back of our box truck that we need to move to storage. But being 6am in the morning we'll be lazy and use an extended cab F-150. It can be easier lots of times. Of course we don't do it on cloudy/rainy days. If you...

    New room owner's observations

There use to be a pool hall in Atlanta (Atlanta Billiards) where half of the people there were those players. Always wanting to play someone coming in off the streets. But never played the regulars. They would come up and say "I can't shoot worth a crap" and stuff of that nature. Yet they...

    Gold Crown questions

A gold crown 4 is easy to indentify. The pockets will be flush with the metal castings. And if I remember correctly the GC4 doesn't have a center beam but 2 cross beams for leveling the slate. And the frame is much heavier than an earlier model GC. I've only run across a couple of pre-GC3...

Ball return for an Annivesary Brunswick

I haven't put one on an 8ft anniversary. But any ball return for a commercial style table should work. I think Gandy ball returns match perfect if you can run across one. Or as long as it is those metal ones with the rubber coating on it. And even if it doesn't fit you can make it fit.

    advice

At Cues2 in Atlanta I remember seeing a plaque with a picture of a pool player. It was located in a sitting area where people can sit down and eat. I remember looking at it for a while one day just studying the picture. I can't remeber the persons name but I'll probably look at it again next...

    Old Joss with J hooks???

Appreciate it Tate. I hit with it a couple of times and I loved the hit. Even better than my Schon or Meucci Original. I'll look for the little Joss Logo on the joint pin. But can you describe exactly what that is. I'm a table mechanic but have no clue about sticks.
