How level is "level" for pool tables?

I am most familiar with bar tables, which you have to lift up the slate to put the felt on.

How level is "level" for pool tables?

A 12" Starrett Machinists Level has an accuracy of 0.005 inches per foot. For a regulation table that equates to 0.0225 inches across the width of the table. The WPA equipment specifications call for an overall flatness within .010 inches across the width of the table. Therefore the 12"...

How level is "level" for pool tables?

That makes no sense whatsoever. So you cherried out the level on the naked table...then what? You have to lift the slate out, install the felt, then put the slate back, then re-level the table because you moved the slate.

How level is "level" for pool tables?

I will bet it is not accurate enough. What brand is it?

How level is "level" for pool tables?

I can tell you that you are wasting your time using a regular level when leveling a table, unless you have purchased a very accurate, very expensive level. Tables need to be leveled so that the angle is less than 0.01 degrees. Some engineer/machinist levels are more accurate than 0.01 degrees...

Downgrading equipment to play better in the APA

What I did as a league operator was to educate the owners of our sponsoring bars about the benefits of having quality equipment, including professional cloth. In some cases the league helped bars out with the added costs of the high quality cloth. The net result is a league with 9 bars and 20...

    just a lil rant

    1. If you are an APA 5 and another guy is an APA 5 and your Fargo rate is a lot higher than his, why does that imply that Fargo ratings can be manipulated? Sounds to me like you are rated too low in the APA. 2. I never said sandbagging couldn't happen anywhere. But with the ridiculous...

    just a lil rant

You can rant all you want, but the problem is staring you in the face. The APA handicap relies heavily on highly subjective and overly complicated scoring system. I implore the APA to modify their format and incorporate the highly objective and very accurate Fargo ratings. I know you THINK...

Our Bar Rules and Playing System

My key point is that I would ban them if they did this on a BUSY night. If the action at the bar table was slow, who cares. I would also ban anyone that plays any 8-ball game that lengthens the game time (once again, only on busy nights). For example: Call all shots, last pocket, bank the 8...

Our Bar Rules and Playing System

Hahahaha....I have a sneaky suspicion that these rules are totally made up BS, proffered here to arouse a silly debate. On the slim chance that they are not, all I can say is that if I owned a bar with a coin-op pool table and ever caught someone playing by these rules on a busy night, I would...

    ACS 2019 Nationals

Our league attended the last few years. A well-run event. Smaller and less glossy version of the BCAPL World Championships. The strip location is a plus. Smoking area and bathrooms are very close to tables...another plus. They use an app which gives alerts that you match is coming...

    United Billiard Leagues

These league rules sound absolutely wonderful if you were starting a league at the Sonoma County Day Care Center. For the rest of us that are over 12-years-old, no thank you.

Alex Pagulayan Flip Coin for $10k. What was that about?

Could be $25 chips. $5K total. Looks like he is peeling off 4 chips on 29. Max bet anyway to a number at the Rio is $200, so a $100 bet is within reason. When you bet that big at roulette the wins come in yellow $1K chips, which are promptly put in your pocket. I'd say the picture paints a...

Single vs double elim differences, my personal experience

As a tourney director and LO, there are several parameters (excluding fees/payouts) that define your tourney, some of which you have control over and some that you cannot control. 1. Overall time length of tourney 2. Number of tables available 3. Bracket structure 4. Race lengths (includes...

    Anti-Fatigue Mats Game Changer

A good quality anti-fatigue mat costs between $10-$11 per square foot. Depending on the table size you are looking at between 150 and 200 sq ft if you want a seamless mat surrounding the table. Definitely a $1K-$2K investment. But if I had a home table and extra money to burn, I would do it.
