Why is pool like it is?

You are totally exaggerating this. If pool was as big as you think it is overseas, all the "pros" here would be over there raking in all the big money right? But it doesn't exist....that's why the foreign pros are often over here. You are cherry picking by using google. What country has a...

    Dr. Cheng cues

Don't you want a $800 cue from a "custom" builder who works in his garage, and won't answer his phone? Just kidding. I have a Dr. Cheng cue too.

    This is Not about Shane!

19.5005 ...and you have to win by 2, with no water or pee breaks

    This is about Shane

Would John Mars stake Shane vs. anybody in the world playing straight pool to 500? Which is a game designed to be played at length, and not a short, smash into the headball, break dominated game like 9 ball? I'm curious to know. Maybe he would Isn't that what was being played in those challenge...

Niel's vs SVB Race to 100?

How about a marathon straight pool match instead of a marathon match consisting of short games of 9 ball where the break emphasized as much as the pool shooting itself? Who would win then, and who would be the considered the better pool player? Are people talking about who is the better pool...

Right I don't get it. That's why pool is completely invisible to public, except the people on this site.

I miss playing pool for money

You could say it's lunacy to encourage anybody to attempt to play pool for a living. Not many happy endings when middle age comes around.

Scott Frost broke his wrist this week

And yet most of the retired people I know either worked for the government or were in some union job in a big city. They pay more out of pocket to get their nails or hair done than they do then when they visit a doctor, and they go alllll the time. And that is part of the problem too. Oh and...

    This is about Shane

I get it. You think pool should be an endurance sport to wear the other guy out. So a better 55 year player would eventually get beaten by a 25 year old in every race to 100 or 500 for that matter. I probably can beat a 60 year old senior PGA golfer once in a while if we walk 4 rounds in a day...

Scott Frost broke his wrist this week

Sure I understand that. The last time I had to go to clinic for services, upon telling them I was uninsured they asked how I was going to pay. I said credit card, and they gave me a discount, and they certainly didn't charge me 5 to 8 times what they would have billed my insurance company if I...

Scott Frost broke his wrist this week

I read it fine. You are saying that somebody with a broken wrist, but can pay with cash, will pay 5 to 8 times what the hospital will bill the insurance company of another patient? I'm just not buying it.

Scott Frost broke his wrist this week

I don't get this at all. Are you referring to the deductible the patient might have to pay vs. the entire cost? What I hear most often is that a cash customer can get a discount...although they certainly would like to see some evidence.

    This is about Shane

I don't get the race to 100 thing. Usain Bolt is the fastest man on earth, but tons of people can beat him in the 1000 meters. Wouldn't these long races be better broken into races of 11 best out of 7 and maybe have to win by 2, or something along those lines? It could be over somewhat quickly...

"The proper way to approach work..." Or billiards!

ZERO. The same amount I practice every week. I don't practice hobbies cause its senseless. I also don't practice making furniture. I make furniture. Make sense? Anyway I know your really not that serious ;-)

Scott Frost broke his wrist this week

Exactly, but to think of all the money professional pool players save over the years sleeping on somebody else's couch they could afford health insurance. OK, I am out of line here

    The future of pool

In my area of the country...middle atlantic, Walmart rarely buys anything. They lease from developers. In fact I can't think of a Walmart within 100 miles of me that actually owns it land/building. They certainly have a lot of pull with the developers I will grant you that. Oh and this thread...

Scott Frost broke his wrist this week

So he went to a Doctor and needs surgery and it isn't even scheduled? Sounds like he doesn't have insurance to me I've broken a few bones playing sports including a pretty bad ankle break. I think it's safe to assume his broken wrist didn't come from playing pool  Maybe the guy has a good...

Scott Frost broke his wrist this week

You are referring to what's called TENS units I believe. Some people report success with pain management. I haven't heard much about bone healing but I'm not up on that. Probably best place to look is Amazon and read the reviews from users. BTW...I think a "career ending" broken wrist for a...

    This is about Shane

It's also because all Europeans have decided to lump themselves in one pseudo country "Europe" and create the American vs European mindset. Same goes for Asia. vs U.S. Also mind you 99% of Americans don't give a hoot about pool so taunting 1% of Americans is kinda stupid anyway.

    The future of pool

That's cryptic, but (since we are both carsons) I may know what you mean. I'm pretty sure I know where sponsors for pool can be found for example, but it isn't going to be the Nike's or Apple's of the world but also not nutcases like Kevin the Felon, or some bored oil sheik who hates his money...
