    old dogs and new tricks

old dog... Hu, i think Roger had it almost dead on, but let me elaborate on it a bit... i think two things are at play here: 1) you are not the intended audience for aiming systems and as such, probably wont benefit much from using them : systems are essentially substitutes for experience and...

ok, so i have followed pool, off and on, since watching the Minnesota Fats/Willie Mosconi matches on wide world of sports in the 70's with my grandfather (who taught me to play on the table in his basement). i have known the name of Earl Strickland for many years, but have never met the man...

    Sliced TV: Pool table deconstruction

kinda sad... i like a good rip apart as much as the next guy, but that table seemed to be in ok shape, perhaps they could have found one a little more dilapidated to destroy... or, perhaps they could have torn it apart piece by piece and then donated the carcass to a boys or girls club to put...

Suggestions? Joss, Schon or Custom cue?

suggestion... i just replaced an old viking with a schon and i love mine. is it perfect for everyone? im sure it's not. but it will be a long time before i feel the need to replace it (although i do have an eye out for a great deal on a Runde-era schon, it's an illness...).

    What makes a room successful?

running a room if you're gonna have a juke box, make sure you have at least two different zones. i would recommend that you put the players tables at one end, furthest away from the bar and the other noisy areas and make that one zone, then have the bar and barboxes in the second zone. that...

"sand bagging" Yes or No ?

APA defensive shots the gentleman who runs our local APA league stopped by last week and i took the opportunity to ask him what we should do when we knew a good player was missing on purpose (we had a guy miss a pretty easy cut in the side by a full diamond, when we know he is a really good...

    Funny pic/gif thread...

i suspect that that footage comes from either the practice round (on tuesday) or the par three tournament at the masters which is held on weds (the day before the masters starts). in either case there is a tradition of players attempting to skip the ball off the water and onto the green... as...

    Predator ferrule on reg shaft?

there are a few other problems with using gorilla glue: 1) it expands quite a bit, could blow out the shaft or do something else you dont really want... 2) it needs moisture to cure - while framing and treated woods have plenty of ambient moisture to cure gorilla glue, furniture grade woods...
