    Best Diamond Table

I like my 9' Diamond Pro Am far better than the Diamond Professionals at our local poolroom. It just seems to play more consistent and fair than they do. One reason may be that I have Simonis 860HR on my Pro Am and the poolroom owner uses Granito on his tables.

Why no open division @ BCAPL tournament?

First off, there is an Open Division at the BCAPL tournament in Vegas. It is for those players not rated as Advanced, Master or Grandmaster. I am assuming you are referring to the Pro event. Last year Mark went to an invitational pro tournament which consisted of 8 players. He did offer an 8...

wow SVB forfeits match vs Alcano

Would like to know the rules they are playing by. Does the 10 ball need to be verbally called even if obvious? That was clearly an obvious shot. Ronnie does say something to referee, then referee immediately tells Shane he didn't call the 10 ball. Ronnie is not above pulling something like...

how to clean felt when using kamui chalk?

Wow! I have a 9' Diamond Pro Am that gets played on 10-15 hrs a week and I have used Kamui Chalk exclusively for the past two years. I have had no issue with my table being marked or chalk making a mess. I wonder if some are using way too much of the Kamui Chalk? I vacuum my table and Quick...

Cyclop ball review (compared with Brunswick Centennials)

Have you weighed both sets (each ball) to test for difference in weights of one ball to the next? I know my Cyclop balls were all much closer to the same weight than the Arimath balls I used to play with.

Mosconi Cup: Did the Referee make and error ?

This thread about which rules should be enforced and which we should let go in the name of "sportsmanship" is a large part in what holds this sport back. I hear people all the time say, "I wish pool was more like golf." Well, if it was, most pro players would never make it to the end as many...

Mark Wilson final day strategy line up?

Race to 5 is so short, it doesn't at all favor the better player. Shane's record in this event shouldn't be held against him. When two top players play in this format it is a coin flip. One dry break or one roll either way can determine a match. Good call by Mark, knowing that Shane would be...

    Just think, Shane stayed home

Some on here obviously have never met Shane or know what kind of guy he is. He is not some selfish guy who only thinks of himself. He has a strong sense of pride for his country and supports those that are helping the sport of pool grow. Give the guy a break. He looks at the big picture a...

Mosconi Cup: Did the Referee make and error ?

It brings up questions like; Would he do the same for two amatuer players? Would he have done the same thing for an American player? Does Matchroom Sports tell the referees to do things like this for the players? (I hope not)

Mosconi Cup: Did the Referee make and error ?

That was absolutely interference by the referee. They are not there to prevent fouls from happening. The shot is not over until ALL balls have come to a stop. Niels knows better than to lay his cue on the table in a match like this when the cue ball is still rolling. As a player I would...

the Derby City Classic, ESPN, and the Majors of Pool

It takes money. ESPN doesn't need pool, they have NFL, NBA, and MLB to satisfy much larger viewing audiences than pool ever could in this country. I have heard that The Derby City Classic is shown on ESPN Europe and ESPN Asia, but am not sure if that is the case or not. Sadly, unless pool can...

    Pros playing on bar boxes.....

SVB has told me he doesn't think pros should be playing 8 Ball on a 9 footer. Too much room, too easy. He says bar boxes are actually tougher as you have to play tighter position, break out clusters, etc. My opinion on 10 footers is you are just widening the gap between the pros and their...

    Who's going to the Derby?.....

I will be there working at the Tournament Desk. The more you win, the more we will get to talk. (As you come up and report your results.) Good Luck!

Absolute best book I've ever heard on mental game

Having read both the Inner Game of Tennis and The Pleasure of Small Motions, both excellent books. My favorite book on the mental game is The Winning Point by Loren Folgelman. She works with many athletes and her exercises have proven to be very helpful. You can find the book on Amazon.

SVB Undefeated in US open 9 Ball?

Pool does have online brackets that are research-able forever. If Bad Boys Billiard Productions runs the event, they use CTS brackets and those stay online. Barry won't pay to have them there though.

    Strickland vs. Morra Match Starts Tonight Oct 1, 2, 3, @ 8:00

I was at that match and Shane did not "try to screw him." Shane pulled the ball he banked two rails (after calling 4 rails) and rolled it down the table to be spotted by referee, Ken Shuman. At this point, Morra and Shuman bring the other balls to the table to be racked for the next game. In...

1-ball on spot, wing is wired.9- on spot,it's not?

The problem with racking the 9 ball on the spot is now the one ball is wired in the side. The top players will find the ball that goes and play it.

    Apology To Ozzy and CSI

Nice to see the apology here on the forum. So many times in the past I have seen people called out in public, but the apology comes in private. Kudos Johnnyt And Thank You CSI for keeping the sport's heartbeat going! Appreciate all you do to better the sport we all care so much about!
