Mark Wilson final day strategy line up?

Mark Wilson is a shrewd character. Good move putting SVB out for first two matches there must wins. Even though he been struggling you can't leave your most decorated player out. Followed up by Hall who has been USA's best player then Justin Bergman who has been on the receiving end of some misfortune. And if they get it that far they have to hope the Prince and the Rhino can find something reminiscent of talent and make a game of it. - EUROPE!

I too think it's the right call. Some might say that, in this event, SVB has the worst record on the team, and so shouldn't be counted on now. But I don't think you can use that short-term thinking. Everyone has short-term ups and downs, and he's definitely the best player on the team so you've got to go with that.

Race to 5 is so short, it doesn't at all favor the better player. Shane's record in this event shouldn't be held against him. When two top players play in this format it is a coin flip. One dry break or one roll either way can determine a match.
Good call by Mark, knowing that Shane would be starting the day with the match with Appleton that was held over from yesterday, to put him right back in while he is loose, familiar with table conditions, atmosphere, etc. GO USA!!!!

ye its no secret he has failed to produce in the mosconi but like you said there isn't anyone on the US team close to his ability. time for him to put the team on his back and carry them into the final matches

I woulda gone SVB, Hall, SVB I think. I would want to make sure my best player in THIS event (Hall) is going to get a shot today.

ok I don't want to get off topic but that argument makes no sense
if someone plays ten races to 5 and loses 8 of them wouldn't you say the other player is the better?

least its alternate break, and its not like shane has had no luck or been run out on he has missed balls not got out and played poor safeties that's why he is losing not because of a dry break or a roll or two here or there

look at neils record or appletons they don't seem to have an issue and they are both world 9 ball champions.

short race, winner break loser break alternate break lwhatever the cream rises to the top
example rum runner event in vegas shane won it 4 out 5 years I think they switched to magic rack to alternate break to 9 on the spot to loser break and shane still won because he is king of the bar box, don't hear people crying that well if they played that race on a 9 footer Appleton would beat him. It don't matter shane is the best player on that equipment for my money and would win regardless the format as shown

yes good point , that was my other possibility
I just think if he didn't put svb out twice people be pissed as he is the golden boy of USA pool, HAall has been very impressive though

I think that's a good recommendation, putting Hall's match in between SVB's two matches...that said, it's a blind draw, and since SVB's first match was bumped from yesterday, no way to adjust. I like SVB to win at least one match, likely against Nick, so Justin should get one more shot.

I'm glad Shane gets to play the Greek who he decimated in the us open, and hasn't had the best tournament so far either. Now if he can just get over on Darren....that will be great for USA

Johan knew what the US lineup would be - back to back SVB. He is throwing Nikos to the wolves, if he gets a win it's a bonus. Race to 5, there is no overwhelming favorite by anyone. If not, then Europe still has there two best players playing the Justins in which they would be favored in both matches.

yes I agree I think with nikos having a poor record against shane of late in US open and world masters johan may think nikos may have a fire lit under him and svb not playing too good might be a good move and like you said if not should win one of the matches over justins and boyes got corey in the his pocket

It is short sighted to call this view short sighted. SVB may not be having a great MC, but he never seems to play near his potential at this event.
