Physical Conditioning routine for aging billiard players

That's interesting, I never would have thought pool would be that much walking but thinking about how one circles the table over and over, I can see how you would def burn up a lot of calories playing that much pool. I used to do a lot of courthouse document research and I tell ya, just standing...

What type of audience is best for tv pool?

I am certainly no expert but seems to me, it's like someone said in this thread, it's about marketing. Whoever said sex sells is right, too. Always does. If it's sexist, sorry, but I def watched several matches with Pan Xiaoting, "Queen of 9 ball." That woman is movie star gorgeous and fun to...

What type of audience is best for tv pool?

Do you recall a certain match that Matchroom got right so that I could look it up and view? That is, if it's on youtube. As for "yob," I learned a new word! Dictionary says yob = a loutish, uncultured person! I get what you mean. You mention snooker; I have watched a few matches. What do you...

What type of audience is best for tv pool?

The gist of the OP is what draws more tv audience, not just what pool players want. As for me, after I watched a dozen matches in Asia during a week of viewing, I was ready for something a tad more lively. I enjoyed analyzing what they were going to do with the cue ball and then watching them...

What type of audience is best for tv pool?

Been watching alot of tourneys and have watched several womens' tourneys from Asia. Incredible skill, it's just amazing how good these ladies are. But you talk about quiet and non-animated! I don't know anything much about Asian culture but I assume it is due to that, plus authoritarian regimes...

    No jump cue allowed

I watch a lot of tourneys on youtube and it's rare I don't see jump cues. Is it rare to disallow them, I guess it is. Those of you who own nice pool tables, do you allow jumping? BTW, the tourney I was watching (in the OP), I seem to recall that jumping was not disallowed, just the jump cue...

    No jump cue allowed

Was watching a pro tourney, might have been Turning Stone. Whatever it was, one of the rules was no jump cue allowed. Why, what is the purpose of this? Speed things up or what is it? BTW, I don't recall seeing anyone jump a ball, lol!

    set of 9 balls only

This question came about because my brother has very little room in his house and I had done a little research on tables smaller than a bar box, wondering if they make 6 ft tables. I found that they do, indeed, make 6 ft tables. I then got to wondering how it would play, would it be real busy...

    set of 9 balls only

I'll play further to waste some more time. My search terms were "9 ball set of pool balls" and it probably doesn't matter but then did "set of 9 ball pool balls." I have no interest in a set, I was just curious if sets are sold, if people buy them. Something to post on an internet forum...

    set of 9 balls only

Just a tip... chill out. Ignore the thread if you don't like it. I did do a google search, found nothing.

    set of 9 balls only

Do they sell a set of 9 balls only? I have never seen anything other than a full set. Just curious, I guess it's a low demand thing, lol.

    Operation: Bar Box Rescue

I was wondering about that, thinking that 9 ball would be the game to play. It being "a hoot," what do you mean, good or bad?

When did getting low on the cue happen?

It seems the greats of old stood much more upright over the cue ball. When did this change, with modern players sighting almost like down a rifle? Was there some great that did this and everyone copied it? Does any modern pro stand pretty upright?

Has any top level player just gone to regular bars for 'exhibitions?'

Very cool! Now I know, would have never guessed, lol.

Has any top level player just gone to regular bars for 'exhibitions?'

Interesting story! What is finger pool? I wonder how much they were paid to show up? Would the crowd ever contribute a 'love offering' like musicians get or all paid by the bar?

Has any top level player just gone to regular bars for 'exhibitions?'

I have often wondered, so, I ask! I think my local bar. Which is currently closed due to covid. Say it was open. It's not a big bar but there are plenty of players on the one bar box and not one, me included, is over a C rating. On a Friday or Saturday, the one bar box (which is open challenge...

    Pool Tournaments During COVID Pandemic

Tex, what don't you get about there only being x-number of hospital beds? Are you deserving of one versus those of us who are trying to do our part?
