Is there a material used in cheaper cue balls that make them behave like a permanently waxed cue ball?

They are probably just smoother than your old balls because they are brand new. And/or they could be lighter because they are cheap knock-offs.

This Is What I'm Talking About

Can you draw lines on how you played the 3, 4, 5, 6? That looks tricky as hell to me.

small tight pockets in one pocket good or bad?

I played on a 1 pocket GC3 at a room in Philly 2 weeks ago. It was triple shimmed to 4.5" pockets (or possibly extended rails, I'm not sure). It was the main action table front and center. This used to be the "standard" for one-hole play. I played 5 9 ball sets on it. Both me and my opponent...

Testing Kicks and Banks on Diamond Brand Tables, and How to Adjust Aiming

Nice job Dr Dave, to a topic near and dear to me:) Is this really the first time you got to play on Blue labels? Or just the first time you were able to carefully test them? They've been out since 2010. I'm actually surprised the Blues were that close to true. I wonder what they will be like...

How do LOW-COST CARBON FIBER SHAFTS Perform Compared to the Best?

I bought the Rhino shaft 2-3 years ago when it first made all the hoopla on these forums. It had noticeably higher CB deflection than any Predator shaft I've ever played, including 314-1's. I put it back in the box and its been sitting there since. I would have made it my "leave in the car year...

    Shoes

For pool halls that have wood or vinyl floor, I've never found a shoe that doesn't slip a little bit. I'll be down on a shot and my rear leg will often slide outwards. Thankfully most commercial rooms have carpet, but not all. IDK if its because the floors are slippery from spilled food over the...

    Shoes

I bought this brand a year ago, saw it advertised on my FB. They are really well made, comfortable, and don't slip on most surfaces. I wear them to the pool hall a lot.

    Shoes

I had vinyl plank in my apartment and played barefoot. No shoes, no socks. Grip was great. Note, when I'm home I'm barefoot 99% of the time. When I buy shoes, I always check they have good grip in the store incase I end up playing pool in them at a pool hall.

    My Fargorate progression

Tuzz won 3 sets to my 1. He played like crap the first set, and I played good. Then things reversed. It was a long session, we started about 7:15 and ended about 1:30 am. Don't feel bad for him staying out late, he's never had a square job or gotten up earlier than noon;) Set 1: Nick 13 Tuzz 5...

Early Impressions Of The Diamond Professional

I think DCP just has an unrealistic expectation of "runnable racks". Instead of watching TOP pro's on Accu-Stats, go to the Zuglan Joss Turning Stone event stream where a lot of regional level players (650-700 FargoRate range) are on the stream. Count how many runnable racks those guys have. At...

    Jump RODS

The ones I remember in the Philadelphia area were mass produced. (or most likely "mass produced" by 1-2 people in a small shop). They were if I recall a light weight hollow aluminum tube, no taper, and about the diameter of a quarter. They had a plastic tip on the end. They had some sort of logo...

cue/shaft orientation as you shoot, facing one way every single time!

I think shaft orientation is one of the biggest crock of bs out there. If it made any difference, no one would have made a ball before the radial laminated shafts came out.

    Sharing my old Brunswick table

It was sold for the Canadian market. Different ads, lost to time. Have you ever in your life seen an ad for a 12' GC Snooker table? I know I haven't. Yet there are many out there IN Canada.

    Sharing my old Brunswick table

I don't think there is any way this table was originally a pool table and later converted to a snooker table. Why do we go with complicated theories instead of simply it was always a snooker table? IDK when snooker slate cuts became standardized, but if you go from at least 1950 to today, this...

    pool has changed

I just watched a Women's event from NY on Youtube last night that was played on GC1's. They were kept in tip top shape, simonis, etc. Rails were not bouncy, played great.

    pool has changed

Only the Diamonds are like that, due to their super bouncy cushions. However, Diamonds are like 90% of tournament play these days.
