Controversial European Open Push Shot Call – The Myths Busted

The video was super good. I meant what I wrote in the YT comment. From a production standpoint, It had a good flow and script, and kept my attention the whole time. I only slightly lost interest during the VNEA segment. I felt it took a lot of portion of the overall video to counter a very...

Controversial European Open Push Shot Call – The Myths Busted

ok, I made an ass out of myself, I'll admit it. I too have made videos for pool, cnc hobbies, dayjob, friends, etc, and know it is a tremendous effort. I think getting good at making videos, and all that is involved with that (camera equipment, computer equipment, software, storytelling, selling...

Controversial European Open Push Shot Call – The Myths Busted

Few are going to watch it. Half the members will give it thumbs up and maybe watch 3 min then come and say good job. FB viewing will be less. The story can be told in a few clips. Show the rule in the WPA rulebook, and shoot the shot. Maybe shoot it a second time with a small gap. Just being...

    Push shot foul?

IDK if this is really from Ponger's mouth or not, because its not his account.

    Push shot foul?

Do you boys think we will ever hear from the player, the ref at the table, or Marcel, from their own mouths?

    Aramith Low end Billiard Balls

To add to the conversation, I have a set of Aramith Disney balls. They are phenolic, but the logos are all painted on. They play the same to me as my Aramith Super Pro set, really nice. I mention that because Aramith also sells a painted normal number set today, that is phenolic. It's the...

    John Schmidt runs 820

That's nuts he ran that much. I thought he was pretty much retired. I would have bet large he couldn't beat his 626 today. It took him 1-2 years the first time. Great job.

    John Schmidt runs 820

Right. The "equivalent" event in 2012 had a field like a regional 9 ball tour stop in the USA. Without the WPA sanctioning, it didn't get any traveling pros like it did in 2005, 2006, and 2008.

    Push shot foul?

Well he was a top player, and retired. He got second in the US Open one year. Probably was a hair better than Sky Woodward is today.

    Push shot foul?

That's a good point... supporting that the ref must thinking he must shoot away.

    Push shot foul?

Just so weird...he played TOP level pro pool for 10 years. You'd think when he started he would have asked about the differences.

    Push shot foul?

I don't think there is anything wrong with the pool or snooker version for dealing with frozen balls. Its just what each evolved to to handle the situation. Just very suprising that pro level players or pro refs don't know there is a difference in the rules for the different disciplines. I'm...

    Push shot foul?

Right. Karl is like many others and he's using the same term "push" to mean "double hit". Crazy how so many players don't know the difference. I kind of think maybe it's because they weren't around hustlers. The hustlers would do legit "push" shots in prop bets to win money. Young players...

    Push shot foul?

Karl was first declared a tool when he called a foul on Shannon Daulton at the US Open after the rack was won. 10 years before anyone did nitty stuff like that in pro-pool.

is there a set formula when comparing corner pockets to side pockets?? i.e. side pockets should be 1.1 times larger, or 1.2 times.

Right. Which is why I vaguely recall hearing about some side pockets on 4" corner pocket tables are actually bigger than 4.5", because otherwise they'd be simply too tough. I don't know it as fact, just I remember hearing it somewhere.

    Push shot foul?

I'd also like to add that luck 9 ball rules led to this shot in the first place, and all the attention it has gathered. Luck rules encourage aggressive play, 2 way shots, and luck itself. It's good for the game! Stop trying to make pool more boring that it already is. One guy on the FB...

    Push shot foul?

Agree. Any news is good news. Look how much everyone is talking about it. Emily loves Karl right now.

I believe it's always been the side pockets are .5" larger than the corner pockets. This was in the old days of 5" corner pockets being standard, and 4.5" being about the tightest ever made. In today's time of 4" corners, I think the sides might be more than .5" bigger, but I'm not sure.
