Are Junior players being set up for a tough life?

Its funny.... Thomas was raised by his mom, his dad lived far away during his early years. Son and dad didn't really reconnect a lot until Thomas was already in his teens and already a rally good local player. Anyway, I didn't really know this, and I saw them both at a tournament about a year...

The red circle balls were always aftermarket 3rd party cue balls.

Are Junior players being set up for a tough life?

He's playing Thomas Haas tonight for 10k. It's supposed to be streamed but I haven't found a link yet. Thomas is from Philly. I watched him progress in his teens, he played frequently out of my home room. He's a 726 now, at I think age 25 or so. I think its a pickem from the action offers I've...

Are Junior players being set up for a tough life?

It's an interesting question. We are all pool die hards (of varying skill levels from bangers to near-pros), and probably wouldn't want our kids to follow in our footsteps. Boxing parents might have a similar mindset. IDK how it is for other sports. In Asia, the pressure must be higher? In...

3D Printed One Pocket Ball Rack

No, I don't believe I have. I have seen 10 or 15 years ago on onepocket.org a rack then screwed into the legs on a Diamond and wrapped around. I forgot exactly how it looked.

Are Junior players being set up for a tough life?

That's only for Asians. No American or European will go that route, IMO, even if the money was 100MM each tournament.

Seeing the contact point on the object ball.

IMO, the only "spot" that makes sense is the spot your stick is pointing at. This is the only spot that is parallel to the stick. You pick a corresponding spot on the OB, or on the cloth if it's away from the OB. The spot can be a light reflection on the ball, or an inlay feature on the ball, or...

Are Junior players being set up for a tough life?

He played in the MR Florida Open juniors division last year. I watched him a couple of racks. I don’t think he fared well that tournament.

3D Printed One Pocket Ball Rack

I took the quick print to the pool room and put it on a shelf. It was surprisingly stable, even though it was only as wide as the balls. On the table (where it was intended), it sticks out less than the Diamond wire metal rack, and doesn't get in the player's leg's way. My leg/shin bangs into...

Are Junior players being set up for a tough life?

The kid comes from a pool family. His dad is a strong local player. (660 speed). His mom takes him to the pool hall all the time. I've played him some cheap practice sets in atlanta, and saw him at the Expo in Philly and said hello. Pool is his life. IDK if he will be a legit pro speed when he's...

Are Junior players being set up for a tough life?

How did your life go in a 4 sentence summary? You were in a skill position where you might have actually been able to make a living playing pool. What made you decide to go square (if you did)? Most of us knew we stunk early on and knew to get a square dayjob. It was a semi-curse to be an open...

Are Junior players being set up for a tough life?

That kid is 10000000% into pool. I haven’t seen a dedication personally that high. He will make pool his career. No doubt about that.

Are Junior players being set up for a tough life?

I’m OK with it. I think the same has probably happened with every champion that’s ever come before. The only difference is now with social media, we all know about it. Shannon Daulton, Johnny Archer, Corey Deuel, etc, were all gambling their brains out when they were 16 years old.

    Identify these billiard balls

I’ve never seen a direct knock off of Centennials. Maybe someone else has?

Do you have the CB? It is supposed to be a blue hollow circle. If its anything else, its not original.

    Identify these billiard balls

Def Centennials. They were probably the most popular ball of all time until about 2010. Every single pool room I ever went to had them on their tables.

World Top 200 Players by Fargo Rating (April2026)

Do you think the other TOP pros do the same as Shane? I do. We are mostly Americans and followed him from his splash onto the scene. He was the first player that had a livestream crew near him a lot (JCIN/TAR), that would relay how much he practiced, especially the break. I personally think...

3D Printed One Pocket Ball Rack

I'm working on a more general purpose ball rack. Maybe 2 types. One that screws to the Dimaond table somewhere, and a second that sits on a shelf and can be moved wherever needed. My printer can only print 4 balls wide in one row. I'm thinking holding 8 total balls (2 rows) is enough for 99% of...

And also guys play their whole lives and never get 2% better, let alone 2% per year for 10 consecutive years. We all know them.
