    My amazing full spliced player

It's getting redundant, but cannot be said too often: very, very impressive cue! Construction, design, choice of woods, ... superb! I'm in the process of making a cue for myself as well (a one-piece 60" hand spliced snooker/pool hybrid), but I'm not yet sure about what type of ferrule to use...

    Pin installation

Dear cuemakers, I would like to experiment with different combinations of length, diameter, taper and weight on the butt to figure out what type of cue suits me best. That would include exotic parameters, such as very thin 25mm end diameter and/or 40" long butts. Not really off the shelf type...

    Snooker-style stance......................

In addition to the chin, the cue also contacts the chest. So there are four contact points: bridge hand, chin, chest and grip hand. See here: https://youtu.be/gSK4w_9S_x0 But I don't think those are the reasons for facing the shot square on, as you can easily utilize those four contact points...

Looking for someone building an extra long butt

I am well aware of all that, thank you. Nevertheless that's how I look like when shooting pool on pool tables. I don't see how any of this relates to my request or the reasoning behind it.

Looking for someone building an extra long butt

I know I can always go down the cue + extension road. I have such a setup in fact, and it does move the sweet spot further down. But the hit is not nearly as pleasant... I really like the idea of a solid oversized butt that does not have the butt cap and bumper etc. trapped in betweeen. But I...

Looking for someone building an extra long butt

The forums were down this morning, and now the thread seems to have been lost, so I'll post it again: ------------------------------------------------- Dear cuemakers, I would like to have a 40" (yes, fourty) butt so that I can grip my cue near or at what I learned to be called the center of...

How to make a ferrule-less shaft?

Can I get a badly oriented cut flat and orthogonal to the z-axis using such a tool: https://www.seyberts.com/tip-tools/cue-top-sander/ or is that only for micro-removing glue and tip remains?

How to make a ferrule-less shaft?

Hi there, I bought a cheap house cue, which I want to turn into a ferrule-less cue (pad + tip only), and potentially coring out the front section sometime later. Mainly for educational purposes, to get a feeling for how those changes affect hit sensation and squirt of the cue. Problem is I...

    Feedback in grip hand

The haptic feedback in your grip hand has insignificant influence on the reaction of the cue ball you stroked a few millisecond ago. A pro could play with thick skiing gloves and still shoot the lights out. The same probably holds true to how a cue sounds. Sure, cues differ in tip...

    Feedback in grip hand

Thanks! I indeed appreciate the feedback here very much, and I hope that others may find this thread useful as well in the future. Good suggestions, however the only thing I can really do myself is changing tips. But I will try the hardest tip I can find. The cue on the left has a Mezz WD700...

    Feedback in grip hand

I don't think you go off on a tangent at all, answers like yours are greatly appreciated! That is interesting indeed. Does it generalize in such a way that adding lots of weight near the bumper or joint, that center of percussion can be moved up or down the cue? Is there a limit on how far you...

    Feedback in grip hand

@qbilder: I have played with both cues after removing the bumper. Not much of a difference unfortunately. Also playing with and without the weight bolts firmly inserted does not make a difference in sensation. Will try a harder tip. @GBCues: Yes, the cue on the right has a stainless steel...

    Feedback in grip hand

Dear cuemakers (and physicists...), what makes a cue deliver as much feedback (vibration) as possible to the grip hand? I'm looking for just that kind of cue. The two cues I own are examples of what I feel deliver the opposite, namely almost no feedback to the grip hand. Extreme draw shots...

Why are Snooker and Pool cues constructed so differently?

That's how snooker cues look like, but the difference is that the shaft wood goes all the way back to the butt end, the splices being added to the sides. As far as I can tell, have seen from pictures and was shown by a local cue maker, full splice pool cues are made by sticking two solid pieces...

Why are Snooker and Pool cues constructed so differently?

Dear Cuemakers, this question nags me for quite some time now - is there a reason (other than tradition) why snooker and pool cues are constructed so differently (read after the === below for my attempt of a description of the construction methods)? If one way would be "superior" to the other...

Dominant eye switches when shooting jacked-up?! Or is it still my stance?

Hey there, On normal shots (i.e. cue parallel to the table bed), if I put my cue slightly under my right eye (halfway between center chin and right eye), I'm shooting straight. When there's some unintentional side/English, it's roughly 50/50 left/right. It was a long journey of more than a...

Need help with stroke (body alignment)

Guys, what can I say? Amazing feedback! @plhlolelnlilx: I'm not sure I fully understand. Always thought one starts the acceleration from all the way back, gradually increasing it just past the cue-ball... @One Pocket John: I roll the balls if possible, the reason I went with a somewhat harder...

Need help with stroke (body alignment)

Hello guys, I've been working on my stance/stroke for about a year now. Went from classical pool stroke to classical (i.e. square on) snooker stance and back, rotated my elbows in/out, moved my hips inside/outside, and so on and so forth. But whatever I do, I can't get rid of accidental...
