It's been a while since this beautiful case has been bumped up. I've loved this case since the first time I saw it. Every year at Halloween I think about this case..

Might try using phenolic or micarda both should be stronger than most, if not all woods. I'm not a cuemaker, repairman or anything that has to do with building cues so I'm just throwing it out there for thought.

Wood(pun intended) you please post some pictures of this log during your processing. I'm not a cuemaker nor do I plan on processing any logs, but I love beautiful woods and it looks like it might be fabulous looking. I'm going to continue to watch this thread. Thanks

The bumper is way off center, probably held on by a drywall screw directly into the wood.

Can't answer for tips but with leather it think storage is the key, I have some leather pouches from WW2 and they are in excellent condition.
