    Smaller Than Regulation Pool Balls

I never kept a count, but I've noticed that some balls are a different size at many of the bars I've played in, for at least 20 plus years. I didn't realize they could get smaller, I always just assumed that the bar bought different sets of balls as they got lost/stolen/damaged (whatever was...

    Vote without leaving a comment

This is not a comment. Wait! I think I just lied! Crap, now my answer to the poll is wrong. Or I lied twice? F*ckitall . . . . can I vote again?

Has a new cue actually helped you play better?

Short answer: yes. How much of that was in my head? I don't know if I could quantify that. My first cue was an entry-level McDermott, 20 oz. with a 13 mm shaft. I played with that thing for several years and was happy with it. Then I bought my first Meucci, an 18.5 oz. 84-4 with something...

    Pechauer Cue

I've had four Peaches over the years, and they all were great cues. Good shooters, great workmanship/quality. If possible, get the quick-release joint; it'll spoil you quick.

Poll: Do you embrace electronic technology in sports

Since we don't have anything specific to go on, I'm assuming a bit here, but i voted "no." Using the NFL, MLB, NHL, etc, as examples, I don't like replay. Principally, it slows the game down, disrupting the flow of the game. And usually replay isn't transparent; we never have the opportunity...

Do you hit most banks with a degree of outside english?

Mostly inside, a touch low. Call it an inside stun. Besides making the pocket a bit bigger, it's just easier for me to control the cue usually. Though you use what you have to use to get the shape you need.

Have you had a pool cue stolen?

Several times. The first was about 30 years ago, out of my truck. Went to see a movie, sticks were in the back seat. Came out to find that someone had taken my crappy car stereo deck, my pack of smokes, and my sticks. One was my first stick, a McDermott, forget what the other was. Worst...

    Daily puzzle, beat SVB!

Yeah, like I said, I was doing several things at the same time and somehow the other side of my brain decided it was a ten-ball game. I just suggested a new thread because that's how I've seen it done on most of the other forums I visit. Allows for people a month/year from now answer the...

    Daily puzzle, beat SVB!

Okay, again from the barbox perspective: Cut the 1 into the top left corner, hopefully off the side rail (right in front of the first dot in the top left corner) and nicking the 10 sitting there, giving me a better angle to bring the cue back to about a foot to the right of the "F." Cue ball...

    Daily puzzle, beat SVB!

Oh, this is an 8-ball game. My bad. That's what I get for multi-tasking.

    Daily puzzle, beat SVB!

Not a big ten ball player, unfortunately, so I'll probably pass n this one. However, I think it would be a better idea to post each puzzle in its own thread, so we can easily keep each puzzle's responses straight. Just a thought.

    Daily puzzle, beat SVB!

Yeah, I finally figured it out. I've been playing on crappy Valley barboxes too long I guess. On a 9' Gold Crown, I can definitely see how bumping the 8 might be a good play. On a barbox I don't think I'd bump it unless the 10 was really close to the 8.

    Daily puzzle, beat SVB!

Okay, but where am I bumping the 8 to exactly? And I get that pool is creative and everyone has their preferences. Heck, put a beer on the line and I'll try all kinds of draws, caroms, etc. But if I have to play the highest percentage shots, I don't think (looking at a diagram vs looking at...

    Daily puzzle, beat SVB!

I guess I'm just too far removed from my days playing 14.1. I don't get it. Why would we bump the 8 and where would we bump it? Especially with the scenario given: playing a world-class player. For a huge amount of money. Ball in hand. Why would I add a level of difficulty to the run out...

    Daily puzzle, beat SVB!

Hey, I must be better at strategy than I thought. That's exactly how I said I'd run this table. I'm wondering though if we're playing on a barbox or a big table? I've been playing almost exclusively barboxes for a few years now and I just assumed that was the size table we were on here. The...

    Daily puzzle, beat SVB!

Must be missing something. Place CB about 15 inches behind 5 ball, same distance from end rail. Shoot the 5 ball into the nearest corner pocket, let CB go one or two rails to make position on the 6. Ideally the CB is about between the side pockets, unless I overstroked it, then it's below the...

The cue you wish you had back

Oh God, there's a few. I've owned probably more than 40 cues over the years. Sold or traded or given away most of them now. The first one I wish I had back was my old Meucci Larry Hubbart-2; my first Meucci. I was delivering pizza back then; saved up my money for more than a month to buy...

    A Question about Ferrules

Hey guys, thanks for all the info. I did in fact try a search but didn't find anything that addressed my questions precisely. For the life of me now I can't remember which site I was on that had the button that gave you ferrule options, and I honestly didn't know that there were so many...
