Thanks for the insight guys. It seems I should stick with wrapless.

I was wondering who put the money up. I wasn't aware it was a bet.

Help me with unwrapped/wrapped... What would you do?

I see that you play with a Sugartree. It is a maker I have not played with but is of interest. Could you compare it to a Blue Grass? Thanks, Dean

    Foul called on a miscue

I haven't seen the match but my guess would be jumping the cue ball with below center hit.

Help me with unwrapped/wrapped... What would you do?

I had a near 10 year layoff from the game and now I'm back in. I've always favored unwrapped cues but my main player 10 years ago was a linen wrapped Southwest. After trying a few cue makers I'm reasonably sure whose I like and currently using a sneaky. What I'm finding right now is that my palm...

lets talk about the cue youll never sell or trade

I can name two cues I wish I didn't sell. 1. JossWest Merry Widow that I had Mr. Stroud himself refinish and build 2 shafts. 2. Franklin Southwest Ebony forearm, 2 veneers with birdseye maple points. I guess I'll add a 3rd. Southwest Birdseye maple forearm, 3 veneers with cocobolo points. My...

    Sneaky's..?

I'm not quite sure what a Blue Grass Stallion is but I sure like my recently acquired Blue Grass hustler cue. I've been on the hunt for the right cue since I've returned to the game and after trying a few the Blue Grass is the clear winner for me. I'd highly recommend you find one if a stiff...

Do you feel like if something "clicked" you would be great???

I don't know if I'll be great but I'm close to a big improvement and will be seeing a pro to nail it down.

    Leon Sly cue question

Sold it at the pool hall for a steal last night. I must of been in a great mood. There was absolutely nothing wrong with the Sly and beautifully built. Unfortunately it just didn't work for me. The Blue Grass I just acquired seems to be exactly what I've been looking for.

Shooting in a dive changed my ability

I've been experiencing something similar. I had played in a competitive BCA league on Gold Crowns for 10 years or so and could hold my own. After an 8 year absence from pool I was asked to sub in a traveling VNEA league last year and this year I'm on a team. Having not spending a great deal of...

    Best breaker?

I find my Blackcreek Sneaky to be an excellent breaker.

    Leon Sly cue question

Interesting development in my search. Wanting to give the Sly a fair shake I used it exclusively for 5 weeks and increasingly felt like it wasn't the right fit. Yesterday I took out the Blackcreek since it was what I was using before I got the Sly. Instantly it felt right, it's definitely more...

    Table-Buying Dilemma

I personally would wait for a Gold Crown and fix it up. I nice Gold Crown now will be a nice Gold Crown 10 years from now and beyond.

    Leon Sly cue question

Thought I'd clear it up. With the Sly I find the butt on the slim side and more so than I like. I don't know if this is typical of his cues. Also I prefer a firmer hit than his shaft taper offers. It is very nice cue though and probably make someone very happy to own it.

    Leon Sly cue question

I already know what I think of the cue. I'm interested in hearing other peoples impressions without them being colored by mine. I'm Currently the Sly is what I'm using but I'm certain it's not going to be the cue I stick with. I've had a long layoff and I'm increasingly getting back into the...

    Leon Sly cue question

I am currently using a Leon Sly cue and would like to know how others would describe the butt and shaft tapers. I am not looking for any bashing in this thread. The cue I own is certainly well constructed and a very nice cue. I just want to hear what other Leon Sly cue owners past or present...

    SW Franklin pre-date

That's the cue. Darrin's wife at the time put it on the auction sight for me.

    SW Franklin pre-date

What is the history on that cue? i sold a predate Franklin 10 years ago in that exact combination but with a wrap. I swear that's it. I had it refinished by Laurie and had 2 shafts made with ivory ferules. I don't recall if it had one or two original shafts as well. Truly a mistake on my part. I...
