Best breaker?

What cue do you think ranks as the top breaker?

It can be custom or production.

Sledgehammer. They all break great, but for me...it has to be able to jump well.

That phenolic tip is like cheating.

Phenolic jump great but you lose too much control when breaking in my opinion.

Think leather tips are best for breaking.

Is it the case that the shaft should be stiffer than a usual shaft?

I always use a 314 but wondered if it made more sense to use a solid, stiff maple non laminated shaft?

what game? what rack?

i use my playing cue to break in 9-ball, using a magic rack.

with a medium/soft break. i can make the wing ball and get the one to hang out near the side pocket pretty consistently.

Sorry, should have said. Let's say 10 ball assuming we are hitting them hard.

i used to use a heavy Joss Thors Hammer but recently went a different route and could not be happier!
I bought the lightest break cue available, a 15oz Action cue (only $75) and installed a Samsara tip.

Holy hell, the light cue creates amazing speed, and the Samsara spreads the balls so very well!

I have a cheapo Players JB5 with a Samsara tip and couldn't be happier with its performance.

There's no best break cue the best breaker is the the breaker himself , there is no magic wand for all it's all about what a player liked combined with countless hours of practice

I agree.

But I also feel phenolic is garbage.

Anybody try the Joss break cue/tip?

.

The best break cue is subjective, there is no real true measure to find the best break cue. I had an 18 ounce BK2 and now have a 18 ounce Joss Thor Hammer and love it better than the BK2.

One thing I feel is i break a lot better with a lighter break cue than with a heavy one.

I have that combo now and freaking love it, the shaft might be to thick for some but perfect for me since I always favor the thicker shafts.

Samsara jump/break cue are insanely good. Crushes the racks with ease.

I have a sub-18oz jacoby edge breaker and I stopped looking for break cues when I found it. Not necessarily the best for everyone, but I'd say the best for me.

This is the truth! Those "countless hours of practice" can be greatly reduced with good technique, and a tool like the Break Rak!
