Good practice techniques for a beginner

That is good talent if you can do that without failing to hit a ball all the way through to the end. I did notice that it wasn't a continuous video from start to finish, and I wonder how successful he was without missing?

How long would it be ok to leave cue in car in hot humid weather?

I can't imagine high heat not having some effect on cues.Lol, but I usually leave my bag in tbe back of my Blazer. If it's an expensive cue, I will bring it in on suspect days.

Good practice techniques for a beginner

I have been working on this lately and it is working great! You are absolutely right, as I have been pocketing balls much more consistently. Great tip! That and staying down on my stroke.

Good practice techniques for a beginner

It is a bit confusing what the intention is in this exercise. Do they mean pocketing the object ball from the kitchen box and returning to the kitchen box ?

Good practice techniques for a beginner

I am getting better syaying down, and it seems to have improved my stroke. I am potting balls a bit better. What is also helping is relaxing my back hand on the butt end, as I have the tendency to grip too hard, especially when under pressure. Dang negative thoughts are also destructive, and seem...

Good practice techniques for a beginner

You shoot quite well, and move the cue ball around the table very well!

    Diamond table poll!

Olhausen has deep shelves on tables we play, and everybody is complaining all the time about balls rattling the pockets and not dropping in. Sometimes too tough is not so good. It's sort of like the game of golf, average type players teeing off from the back tees and making fools of themselves...

Taken lessons from any strong player?

I'll have to try that next time, it will really school a person in cue ball positioning.

    Diamond table poll!

I play on 9 ft tables, both diamond and others, and 9-ft tables are the best way to hone in your stroke. Diamond tables have livelier rails and bank a bit different than the other 9-footers. You have to get used to the rails on a Diamond table before you are competent on it.

Taken lessons from any strong player?

I am close to a 500 Fargo player, and I have taken lessons from a +700Fargo Instructor. The lessons help, particularly with set up stance, stroke, and those sorts of things. I find the way to learn is by actually playing with better players than myself and asking questions as we play through an...

I purchased a rhino carbon fiber shaft for my 3/8x14 Cuetec break cue butt and it fit perfectly.

JB Ultímate Rugged case: a testimonial

Before this thread was started, one of the things I liked about the JB case I have is the soft padding that keeps my sticks safe without bouncing around. I really have a hard time believing these cases hurt the sticks, when it's probably just the owners carelessness.

Good practice techniques for a beginner

Lately I have been randomly putting seven solids on the table plus the eight ball and with ball in hand try to run the table. I am successful about 60 to 70% of the time. When I put them out randomly, it develops my ability to orchestrate the table. I videotaped three run outs and wanted to post...

Good practice techniques for a beginner

That is interesting, and the fact that he shot just as well that way as getting down low. Sometimes on cut shots it is easier to see my line when I stand up a bit prior to the shot. If I am down too low I lose visual of my object ball line. Although, I think all professionals get down quite low...

What types of wood are cue butts made of? How do they affect the way a cue hits?

Could one even say that the same type of wood in different butts can feel different based on their varying density and such? Ideally it would be best if you could test run any cue before you buy if you have the experience to feel small differences.

Good practice techniques for a beginner

Some very good points and appreciated. As for #4, would you suggest a higher or lower profile? I'm not sure I am understanding completely your intention here.

Good practice techniques for a beginner

I like what you said and I think it has been said in other posts, to make it the sole purpose of the practice without worrying about making balls and such. That will be my aim of what to do. Thanks!

Good practice techniques for a beginner

Thanks so much for the video, I watch part of it but it's getting a bit late now and I will pick up on it tomorrow as I have a lot of free time then. I noticed you used an open Bridge for the first part of your video and use they close Bridge a bit later. Any advice on when to use an open or...

Good practice techniques for a beginner

I went down and hit a few racks in, and it seems to help staying down. I make a point of staying down a priority in my shot whether I make the shot or not, my goal is just to stay down. My biggest issue is being like-minded for a while to make it a habit. This is going to be my goal now until it...
