Does anyone think pool has a chance of regaining popularity? If so then how?

    Pool is dead

There does seem to be very few kids playing these days. Which is a very bad sign for pool. I don't think alcohol is the biggest problem however, there have always been alcohol in pool halls even when it was illegal. I do think that cost is a huge factor. It has just gotten much too expensive too...

    Pool is dead

I've noticed that, they charge 6 dollars an hour to play at my pool room and it's just a small town. That also makes it tough to make money when you're paying that much to play.

    Pool is dead

My local pool room has no action to speak of except for a monthly tournament. Road players are becoming scarce and the payouts for professional tournaments are a joke. Why has pool lost its popularity? My theory is that technology has made people lose interest in indoor hobbies. Although pool...

    Ohio's Pool Scene is BOOMING!

Glad to hear, I live in northern VA, we have a few monthly tournaments around but it's hard to find action other than at tournaments. Pool just doesn't get the attention it used too. There's not even any televised events anymore. I think its time for another movie to come out.

    McDermott D 6

That's true, I have heard the d series hit very well and that's mostly what I'm looking for. I have heard a few people tell me about a cue they used to have that they deeply regret selling. The key is too find a cue you really like and never get rid of it. It's also a good idea to buy used that...

I just bought a McDermott off ebay for $170 including shipping. Seller said the cue was straight and it looks to be in decent condition. Does anyone know if I got a good deal? https://i.ebayimg.com/images/g/DCsAAOSwDOlbmoWE/s-l400.jpg

What would you do for "Pool" if you hit the lottery?

Direct a new pool movie. Any ideas on the storyline? I am thinking of having Shane Van Boening star in the lead role.

    Paul Dayton

Okay, I'm sorry to hear that. I will try not to bother him then.

    New Joss cues

I play with a newer Joss cue but I'm not a fan of the linen insert on the shaft. I feel it gives a dampening affect. I prefer having a very stiff hit. I am interested in buying a Paul Dayton cue with an old growth shaft.

    New Joss cues

Hi, my name is Stuart and I'm new to this forum. I was wondering if Joss cues have gone down in quality?. I know in the 80's they were considered to be top of the line. I also noticed that the new Joss shafts use a linen base insert instead of brass. Does anyone know how that affects the play?
