    Bridge/Crutch Question

Speaking as someone who plays on 6" or 7" tables with English pool, I'd say it's pretty uncommon to see people using rests. Most people tend to use butt extensions to reach far shots. I imagine they're common enough Stateside, though.

Do you practice with cue that's not your player?

I use my English pool break cue for American pool, because I wouldn't dream of using my 8.8mm tip for the bigger balls. It's decent enough, I guess.

Question: Could you be awarded multiple free shots in blackball?

The only time a free shot applies is because of a foul and the visit ends for the offending player, yes. WEPF world rules has a similar free shot rule where you can play any ball, but this is only in the event of a foul snooker.

Question: Could you be awarded multiple free shots in blackball?

Two free shots under blackball rules is a thing I haven't heard of. I can't imagine how you'd end up having a second free shot after taking your first one. Usually after your free shot is taken after an opponent's foul, you have one standard visit and that's it. I am, of course, speaking with...

How many Cues do you own today

Five. Three snooker cues, one English pool playing cue and one English pool break cue. I also have a new playing cue coming in around February.

    Masters, triangle chalk becoming outdated

I'm using green Taom 2.0 for pressed tips and green Triangle/Master for laminated tips. I'm finding Master to be a little messier and pastier than Triangle, but it seems to adhere better to the laminated tips, so I think I'll stick with that on my ADR147 tip on my current English pool cue. For...

Pool Needs a Great Interview Based Podcast!

The Ultimate Pool Podcast is fantastic. Spoke to Scott Ryan once or twice about cues. They're passionate about the game and some of the guests they have on are pool and snooker legends. The Ken Doherty episode in question.

    Jimmy White...again

A friend of mine in college had one of those cues, but I think his was a half-joint. The system was called WAC or something. Never liked it for the joint or the amount of lacquer on the thing, but he seemed to get on fine with it.

    Preferred cue length

57" exactly. I have a 58" snooker cue but it feels a tad too long for me.

    One Piece Cues

I play English pool. Both my playing cue and my break cue are one–pieces. For American eight–ball, I'm also hoping to get a one–piece Chinese eight–ball cue as opposed to a standard 1/2 jointed American cue.

Which is more popular in England? Pool or snooker!

A casual pool group I play with plays American eight-ball exclusively, and it's exactly like you described. Just a random mashup of WEPF world rules and pub rules. I would actually prefer to keep the American rules with the American tables and get to know them better, but the problem is that no...

Which is more popular in England? Pool or snooker!

I've thought about giving it a go on my local snooker table using the cue ball, a red and a yellow, but I haven't had the opportunity yet. It's a fascinating game to watch professionally.

Which is more popular in England? Pool or snooker!

The IPA's also great for a few great frames, but my personal favourite is Beard Productions on YouTube, especially for the money matches. Fantastic quality.

Which is more popular in England? Pool or snooker!

Supremes, Blackball tables, Guru tables, etc. are still pool tables... Just because they're designed for a different pool discipline than American pool doesn't automatically mean they're not pool tables.

Which is more popular in England? Pool or snooker!

English eight-ball is pool, though. Yes, it differs to American eight-ball regarding rulesets, but it's pool nonetheless.

Which is more popular in England? Pool or snooker!

Just England or the UK as a whole? Both cuesports are pretty popular across Great Britain and Northern Ireland. Don't know why England has to be singled out. If we're talking about both playing and watching, snooker would likely win the vote.

    Cue weight?

17/17.5oz for English pool, 19.5oz for snooker.

    Ten Foot Long Snooker Cues

The snooker hall near my college has two ten-foot cues on either side of the table. They are unwieldly to even set up on the rest in the first place, let alone pot a ball and get them out of the cue ball's way in time. There's no real need to use them nowadays, with nearly every player owning...

Gray UK Open 9 Ball Cloth or Green Snooker Cloth ?

I wouldn't say napped is on its way out at all. The only organisation using worsted cloth for events are the IPA, and even then, Ultimate Pool seems to be edging them out on the up and up, and I can't see them changing the Superfine out for a worsted substitute.

Gray UK Open 9 Ball Cloth or Green Snooker Cloth ?

The IPA are still using the worsted powder blue Strachan 861, but, yes, Ultimate Pool have been using the napped grey Strachan Superfine since the Taom Shootouts, I believe. All in all, I don't like seeing any colour other than olive green on a snooker table. English pool is a different story...
