    Grady's Rules for nine ball

I think Grady was onto something. I also think two way call shots are more sophisticated than two way slop shops. That said, we are where we are. 9 Ball is in good hands with Matchroom.

    Nineball Asian Tour

The Blue Ribbon events (World Championship and US Open) are paying 50 or 60k to the winner. The other Majors pay 30k. I believe this is the same in 2023 as it was in 2022. It's either check or cheque. Both are correct everywhere in the English speaking world, regardless of which one is the...

WCBS Multi-discipline Championships, Ankara, July 2023

Yep. Also, a number of top Blackball (as well as Snooker and "American" pool) players have played in some pretty big Heyball tournaments. I recall a team of Chinese 8 Ball players playing in an English pool team tournament a few years ago but I can't remember any beyond that. Also, the...

    Snooker cues

Mine is a 1/2 cue 57 inches long. My snooker stance is definitely intuitively different to my pool stance but maybe they are not too different from each other. This might go someway to explaining why I am "ok" at both games without excelling at either one 🤣

    Snooker cues

Intersting! Did Allison Fisher actually play for some time with a 1/2 snooker cue? Or was she referring to when she switched to pool and at first used a 1/2 pool cue with her snooker stance?

    Snooker cues

??? Really? I've played with a 1/2 (50/50) snooker cue all my snooker playing life and this has never happened.

    Snooker cues

Tradition. Wood 1/2 jointed cues were more prone to damage when they hit the ball hard. 3/4 jointed wood cues were far less prone. With modern joints, there is pretty much no difference. 1/2 jointed are far easier to carry around than 3/4 jointed but tradition dictates.....

met earl strickland yesterday in Albany. Videos coming

He is a jerk and a stain on the game of pool. Yes he is. Both of these things are true to me. Are they true to you?

Snooker Champs Competing in World Nineball Tour's UK Open

I think he is 9-3 in matches across both events. He beat Yapp, Oi, Aranas and He. While lacking in the jumping and kicking departments and being behind even some serious recreational players in positional knowledge, he has serious skills that give him a chance against anyone in races to 8, 9 or...

Spanish Open, June 2023, from Matchroom

Agree. Matchroom are top bollox on most things but they miss a trick or two.

Spanish Open, June 2023, from Matchroom

Those side pockets look scary. The bank looks easier to me given the precision needed to make the cut under pressure. Clearly not as easy as it looks though.

Intensive pool game, make the game more intense.

According to some people, this must have been staged - as it is a physical impossibility to come back from 5-1 down with alternating breaks 🤔

Which country has the best pool players?

It's nowhere close to being one country.

why do some pros fly to England for the tournament, when they have a small chance of winning?

Probably much the same reason anyone does anything.

Amazing how a tight grip can foul things up.

My game went through the roof (but then of course plateaued again :() many years ago when someone said, "loosen your grip". I probably would have realised this myself "eventually" but it remains the best piece of advice anyone ever gave me.

What order to shoot the stripes with ball in hand?

I believe the theory is that if you miss your "new center" you are still applying the same kind of side to the ball, whereas if you aim for center ball and miss you can unintentionally apply either kind of side. Of course there are other reasons for applying english to the cue ball. However, for...

Matchroom 2023 UK Open (nineball), 30May-4June, Winner $30K

Yes but Hendry did say that he wished he had been more like Jimmy (White) and enjoyed it more and had a good time.
