How do division tournaments payout in your area?

Yeah, around here pretty much everything is VNEA and there is very little of anything else. I tend to forget that other areas have more opportunities . :) I just checked our state numbers for last year 45 teams in D 82 teams in C 31 teams in B 21 teams in A 6 teams in AA For singles it was...

    A Questoin For FargoRate

So the PGA would include in it's rankings if two PGA buddies decided to go out and shoot a few rounds for some cash? No system will ever be able to take in to account every single game played and there will always be a margin of error but so far Fargo is the best system I've seen.

Good interview by Darren on the state of pool

How much does everyone pay in their area?? We only pay 5 dollars a night for league + quarters to plug the tables.

How do division tournaments payout in your area?

Most tournaments we have are broke down by division (Open,A,B,C,D). It seems like the D division is normally pretty small and the Open division is normally pretty small. The biggest division seems to always be C. I realize that most players probably fall into the C category but no one ever has...

    Dynamite rates the Americans

He is one of the most personable pros I've seen. I've asked a couple questions on facebook on his posts and his answers were great and tactful where some other pros seem somewhat condescending.

Good interview by Darren on the state of pool

That makes more sense, I can be dense. :) In VNEA we play on barboxes and pay quarters. If they let the bars open the tables during league they could probably get away with charging 5 more dollars a night and everyone would be happy not even realizing they are actually paying 3 dollars more to...

Good interview by Darren on the state of pool

This wouldn't work around here. We have 1 APA league and 1 LO that runs all of our VNEA leagues. APA around here is pretty small I think although I've never really looked into it because some of the stuff doesn't fit what I want in pool.

Good interview by Darren on the state of pool

I agree, league members would want more than the option to buy more streamed matches and such. I loved the ideas above where part of the money could go to having at least 1 certified instructor in each area or some type of "speed test" that league members could learn from. I know a number of...

Good interview by Darren on the state of pool

Without leagues pool would die. We don't have many of the non-smoking 10-20 table pool halls anymore that people bring their kids to. My guess is most people are introduced to pool through a friend inviting them to shoot league. I know I've brought 4-5 people into pool in their 20's that had...

    Wow DO n KO

Did it say if it was going to be streamed and if so do you know by who? I'm interested too. :)

Good interview by Darren on the state of pool

Interesting article I found in one of my favorite facebook groups. I wonder how league players would take it if everyone threw a dollar or two for WPA. I know I wouldn't mind because I like to follow the pro scene and watch every chance I get, but I wonder how the average "show up to pool to...

    John Barton ain't gettin 15-4!!!

when I was younger I learned 9 ball from Cigar. We started out matching up with him giving me the 3,4,5,6,7,8,9 and roasting me. Was able to accurately able to gauge my progression as he would slowly take one ball at a time away from my spot. If you where taught by Cigar I'm guessing you play...

Boyes pulling a very questionable move on Daulton

I don't know you, but I want to thank you for what you do. Your jobs are some of the most thankless on the planet and the only time we hear about a ref is if someone is *****ing about them. Thank you.

    Kamui players, clear or standard?

I was unaware so thanks for the heads up. If I ever switch back to Kamui I'll give one a try because I prefer the original so haven't tried a clear because I thought they only came in black.

    Tips again.

I'm curious too. I've ordered a number of products from Chris and he has always been cool with me. He will tell you that if you like how your tip plays then stick with it but if you're ever in the market for a new one to try his out. Same goes with the chalk. I've never seen him say that his...

    Kamui players, clear or standard?

I used the brown when I had them on, the blacks glazed over to fast/much for me. Now I'm using a milkdud and prefer that over a Kamui. I have a CDX on the way with an UltraSkin on it, we will see how that goes but I'll probably end up switching that to a dud too.

Has the quality difference between "custom" and "production" become negligible?

Could one of you guys answer this before it gets lost in the flame war. :) Would you only be looking at the density of the wood or is there other things you in the know could tell through cutting or X-Raying a cue? I find cue making interesting and honestly thing some are pieces of art. I would...

Has the quality difference between "custom" and "production" become negligible?

Not knocking, I'm actually curious.. What would one look for through an X-Ray or cutting down a cue to determine if it's better? Just to keep the thread on topic- I think anyone can play with anything as long as they like the feel and can get comfortable with it. My reason for wanting a custom...
