UK Open 2026, London, May 26-31

One last thing, if you want the ultimate test of rotation pool you use all fifteen balls and play Rotation. This is by far the most difficult game. Efren was far and away the best Rotation player in the Philippines (the main game there for decades) and maybe the best ever at that game. Sigel...

UK Open 2026, London, May 26-31

Reminds me of the Dennis vs. Shane verbal jousting when they were on top. Shane wanted to play 9-Ball and Dennis Ten Ball. They went back and forth with that a few times. They jawed at each other all day at my house one time. Dennis had a pocketful of money and wanted to gamble so bad he agreed...

    Diamond Las Vegas Open

Calhoun was as hardcore as they got, a down and dirty hustler who would use any tactics to get your money. Lie, cheat and steal were his attributes. He could definitely play pool. That was his best game, but not his only one. Probably one speed below the top players. He ducked the best guys and...

Johann Chua claims Duya Airplay, pockets US$50,000

Kind of makes the WPC and both pro tours seem puny by comparison.

    Shipping cue

I recommend Pirate Ship for the best rates. Never use a round tube! You're asking for trouble. Beware of selling via PayPal and think you have protection. You don't! The reality today is domestic and international shipping is sketchy today, thanks to the excessive fuel prices. USPS Priority...

    Dumping - caught

It's okay. I did run a lot of small and big tournaments at both Hollywood Billiards locations. That came later after my little excursion mentioned above.

UK Open 2026, London, May 26-31

My take on this match and the tournament in general. Filler at his best is in another league then anyone else. He is a full speed above just about everyone, except maybe Carlo and a few of the Chinese guys (Ko brothers). And he's the favorite over them too! He reminds me of the dominance Earl...

    Dumping - caught

Yes, same guy. Bing or something like that. I heard all about him. Supposedly better than Efren. Hollywood Billiards was downstairs in the basement of a multi story building. I don't know what all was on the upper floors. For a short period of time there was a second pool room on the ground...

Posting about 1 foot on the floor on FB

You lived in Straight Pool country. Out west we played 9-Ball and One Pocket, never Straight Pool, except maybe one tournament a year. I remember in New York watching two top players play 150 points for $100 (50 each). In Los Angeles we were playing 100 a game One Pocket at the same time. Big...

    Dumping - caught

In my day, dumpers who got caught got hurt......BAD! Some took beatings and one or two did not get out alive. A famous Filipino player from the Parica era (it was said he played as good or better than Jose) was executed for dumping the wrong guy.

Posting about 1 foot on the floor on FB

The "one foot on the floor" rule has been there in pool tournaments forever. Back in the day when we made a game (gambling) we would have to stipulate "up on the table" prior to starting so this was allowed. No stipulation and it was one foot on the floor. I always asked for up on the table...

If you live in the SouthWest beware of this HUSTLER.

I usually had no idea how good a guy played before we got on the table. I felt like I played good enough to defend myself. If I ran into someone who was just too good I could quit or try changing the game to One Pocket or Banks. I could usually tell within a game or two what I was up against. I...

If you live in the SouthWest beware of this HUSTLER.

I wonder if we ever crossed paths. My active period was the 60’s and 70’s. I became a TD and room owner after that. Still played but mostly on my home court. We learned many of the same lessons. I liked waking up with a few hundred in my pocket.

If you live in the SouthWest beware of this HUSTLER.

Sounds a little dangerous to me. I won some big money in biker bars but being a very quiet and humble hustler. I once beat the president of a notorious biker gang out of thousands and the title to his chopper. He paid me in full and showed me total respect. True that! P.S. I played my best from...

If you live in the SouthWest beware of this HUSTLER.

We called guys like you “lock artists.” You “laid down the lemon” and always made sure to have the best of it. Or “the nuts” or better yet “the Hungarian nuts!” The difference between you and me was that I wanted to get a game and be in action every day. I hated sitting around the place doing...

If you live in the SouthWest beware of this HUSTLER.

Yes, he’s what we call a “player,” nothing more, nothing less. He doesn’t hustle anyone! He is just looking for a game with a little money on the line. You can simply say yes or no to that. I happen to like that there are still guys like that around. Reminds me of the old days. I used to walk...

Are Junior players being set up for a tough life?

And people are worried about machines supplanting humans and taking over by force if necessary. The hard truth is we humans are giving our power to them. They don’t need to devise a strategy against us. We are doing that for them!
