QATAR WORLD CUP 10 BALL, OCT. 28 to NOV. 2, 2025

Vilmos did not do so bad as a player. He's won many regional events out west, and still competes on a regular basis. Probably a top ten player on the West Coast.

Who cares if you are getting good? Why you do, of course.

Lee Trevino never needed a coach. And neither do some pool players. That said many have benefited from good coaching. It can be mental as well as physical. I can't tell you how many times I've had to reassure players who were having doubts going into big matches. The right words can make a...

Who cares if you are getting good? Why you do, of course.

I coached many top players, including Dennis and Carlo. They were all better than me. And thanks to me they got even better then they were before. I showed shots to players like Buddy and Efren that they were not previously aware of. On one shot I showed Efren, he must have practiced it twenty...

QATAR WORLD CUP 10 BALL, OCT. 28 to NOV. 2, 2025

Watched a couple of matches yesterday and here's my takeaways. The Yalin tables are quite a bit softer than the Rasson tables used last week in Manila. It's easier to run out a rack of Ten Ball here than it was a rack of 9-Ball last week. Personally I like tight tables for elite level players...

QATAR WORLD CUP 10 BALL, OCT. 28 to NOV. 2, 2025

I watched part of Carlo's match with Mohaned and the camera was too far from the table and for whatever reason unable to focus more closely (close in) on the table. Pretty much impossible to distinguish the balls and there was no commentary on the stream.

Yes, he was a legend and the story of what happened to him is well known. Don't mess around in the Philippines! You will regret it.

Watch out for "Cocoy" Villfuerte. He plays all the top players here even. And can win against them.

The key matches were actually being shown live here on a Philippine television sports channel, OneSport. That is, until the finals. A secondary table was streamed live on Youtube as well. Also off for the finals.

    "MONK" Warren Costanzo...1979 World Champion

Thanks Bob. To this day probably the most incredible finish I've ever seen to any pool tournament. It was like David vs. Goliath, and David killed Goliath here too. The magazine article was incorrect. The tourney was played on standard 7' bar tables and we only found out on the last day that the...

You missed my point completely. The entire tournament was given good television coverage in the Philippines until the final day and I'm sure the ratings were very high here. For some unexplained reason they decided to black out the final match on tv here in the Philippines. I'm sure that did not...

I'm also in the Philippines now and I couldn't find it live on Youtube, except in the delayed version after the match was over.

Probably the toughest tables the pros have played on this year. The corner pockets were even less forgiving than the Diamond Pros. And the side pockets were non existent from any severe angle.

They did not televise the finals! It was not shown anywhere live.

I'm here in the Philippines and watched the TV matches on local TV, OneSports. Secondary table was on YouTube, also live. I'm sure the local pool fans are not happy about this. Bad PR for MR in the PI.

Love this final! A longtime vet of the pool wars against a rising star (only 22). Should be a good one.

I was sick for a couple of days, so no reporting. I watched on TV in my hotel room. My takeaways from what I saw. Many games (well over half) involve safety play. Advantage to the better kickers and jumpers, and of course the most strategic. The really straight shooters have a big advantage...

Ten of the final sixteen are Filipino! Versus five Euros and one other Asian, Robbie Capito from Singapore. He is half Pinoy as well.
