Both the Second and Third Editions of the Blue Book contain information on Black Hawk Cues. It states they started in 1994 and at one point were making as many as 100 cues a year.

In order of importance: 1) a cue in the secondary market, 2) nothing from a cue maker only selling dreams.

Only the slates on Gold Crown I's and II's were pinned. That would have been up to ~1975/76.

I appreciate these discussions comparing and contrasting different brands and models but when it comes to a 9' table, a used Gold Crown is an easy choice. It's a buyers market and a good Gold Crown I can be found as cheap as almost anything else out there. So there is no point in compromising...

Very nice cue. During the First Catalog, a number of cues were made that while not totally custom, or one-off designs, did not exactly follow what was shown in the catalogs. Your's is one of these cues. There is a similar cue to your cue with red rings that has been posted here and there.
