I think, bottle drill is a waste of time. If you stroke, you have to focus on the object ball, not the cue ball.

The best shaft I've ever played is made of hornbeam by Dmitry Mart'yanov. Another great shafts were made by Dmitry Komarov aka DBK here in AZ. Personally I think, hornbeam is the best wood to make shafts.

The cue is already at home and played by my daughter. This is the awesome player as avery cue from Dmitry I have tested or played. Its pretty light (18oz), head balanced (50cm from butt end) and quite stiff. The new taper is very good to minimize deflection.
