Back Pocket 9 Ball...Is Anyone Playing???

yup, and its played a bunch around here. Back pocket slows down a dead runout player and helps a "mover" or one pocket player even out the 9ball game. Actually, after getting outmoved by a friend of mine Mike Sutterby at back pocket.....I went and learned one pocket! I should thank him! :) G.

    Russel Parson stories

Russell owned Diamond Billiards and always showed at Cue Corner for our events back in the day. While waiting for matches he loved to hold court betting on gaff shots. It would start out with an object ball on the foot rail center diamond, and the CB on the head spot.....he would bet 3 tries to...

Do/Should Pros Watch Recorded Matches (Scouting Report)?

This thread reminds me of back in the day when another pool room would call our pool room to guage the speed of a player, or to let you know a road agent is on the way etc. its all fair n square.....they try to sneak in and get your $$$....you get info as quick as you can.....of course this was...

    Pool Room Design

I would maybe go with the white flat surfaces and a faux wood grain paint finish on the posts and beams. second I like the white/slate grey combo. It is exciting getting a room together huh! have fun, G.

Can pool room owners play in their own tournaments?

IMO if it is an "open" tourney? meaning no handicaps, or not touted as a "no "A" players" kinda thing.....no probs in my mind. If I enter an open event....I expect to play the best players regardless of where they work. I worked/ran many tourneys at The Cue Corner for Pete Sinkler while he...

    S.E.PA. banks

So, I'm playing banks lately, but the location I am in is by no means flush with bank pool players. I learned 14.1 by working in an old school pool room years back and befriending the areas best and having my head bashed in for a year or 2....I learned to fear no-one, and to run balls...

    Do you have a mutt?

My most favorite playing cue is a $70 Kaiser cue butt from J&J America with an OB2 shaft. I have less then $200 in it, and I will fight your pitbull to keep it! that cue makes a sweet ringing sound when hit. G>#2 my custom LP.....a VERY close second. G.

SJM 2014 Derby City Trip Report

Well done Stu! sounded like a blast! Skyler Woodward huh? never heard of him.....I'm taking notes. I have decided to devote some time to learning banks. It is the one game that never gets played up here, but I would like to change that! have fun, G.

    the pool world(why complain)?

To be honest, Joe Public, and the "average bangers" of the world drive the pool world. They are good patrons, buy stuff, spend time and knowledge and make the local pool room a better place to be. These people pay the bills. The better the player, the worse they are as a customer! and that...

** Straight Pools Popularity ** Look at Accu-Stats NOW **

I don't know how "northeast" you are? I'm in PA. ,but you are right about 14.1. Here in S.E.PA. where I learned to play, you're assessment as a player was by how many balls you could run. In other words, if you could run 100, you are an accomplished player and there is no reason to ask if you...

    Solitary practice game for safeties?

to practice safety play I play myself as 2 players.....player 1 plays very tight and no low % shots, with player 2 being the opposite. when a safety situation comes up, I make myself play it 3 ways....1 aggressive, 2 conservative, 3 something I might never try.... also, don't forget when an...

Euro's better than us, or just a MYTH

these discussions are tough because pool here in the USA is in a decade long slump, whereas around the world like the Phillipines /China / Europe the game is much more popular....so all things equal, the world should be crushing us from sheer numbers of players. That and very few USA players...

    Pool Room Design

Just a thought or 2 from a master plumber.... >anywhere you have a tiolet, you must have a hand wash sink.<<<especially if this is being inspected. >put a lint trap on the discharge pipe for the clothes washer drain.....or down the road you will be having a flooded floor! especially when using...

    Cuetecs?

I played for 5 years with a cuetec, also had my high run of 136 with it. During a match I blew the tip off my Schon player, and finished playing with my Cuetec Earl jump break with a LePro on it. Nothing wrong with a Cuetec at all. I did take it home later and pull the taper back about 4 inches...
