As a late-night addition to today's DCC streaming, Accu-Stats added a first-round 9-Ball match between Warren Kiamco and Jose Parica.

Jose won the lag, made a ball on the break, and pushed out. Warren ran out that game and then broke and ran 3 games to go ahead 4-0.

After making a ball on the break in Game 5, Warren played a safety on the 1-ball. Jose thought he could hit the edge of it directly, but fouled by hitting the 4-ball on the way. Warren made the 1-ball and played safe on the 3-ball. Jose kicked and hit the 3-ball, but Warren ran out.

Warren then ran a second 3-pack (including a 9-ball on the break in Game 7) to lead 8-0.

Warren pushed after the break in Game 9. Jose passed the shot back, and Warren missed a long shot on the 1-ball. Jose missed right back, and Warren ran out, ending with the 5-9 combo.

Score 9-0. Ball count: 1 for Jose (the break in Game 1) and 71 for Warren (by my count). Warren had a single miss, in Game 9, and I don't think he had any other errors. So by my reckoning, he shot an Accu-Stats TPA of either .973 or .986 (depending on whether the missed shot was judged to be easier than a spot shot, and I'd say it was harder).

Will we see any better 9-ball performance than that the rest of the week?

I watched jose run a perfect 1.00 accustats rating.

In 2003, at the swannee memorial on 4th street billiards in San Diego, Jose ran a 7 pack after winning the flip, broke ran out to the four played a lock up safe while freeing up a locked 5-8, then ran out with ball in hand and ran out again to win 9-0.

Best pool I've ever witnessed.

Thanks for the match report, Warren is one of my favorite pros.

Solid as hell, great temperament, not flashy...a real killer.

Jose? I may never forgive him for the drubbing he put on me in nc. Race to 9 and I had him 6-2, not even sure he knew he was in a match, all the conversations he was maintaining while he sucked all the oxygen from my world...and held me to 6.

Fine, I guess he plays better than I. :sorry:

Warren's one of those names that's always kind of floating around on the periphery as someone
who plays top speed, but never seems to break into the top tier.
He can play a near perfect set, it seems like he should have won some majors by now.
One miss in 9 racks is pretty phenomenal.

Something I thought was pretty interesting from the statistical end of it... Shane had the highest TPA
of the bigfoot event in his finals with Niels, and had something like 11? errors in the finals.
It averaged out to almost one error per rack won. Everyone's TPA was down like 10%.
Really showed the difference between 10b on 10ft vs. 9b on 9ft.

Warren is a great player but his laughing-joking demeanor at the table borders on unsportsmanlike conduct. He's always joking and performing funny antics just to get attention. Crazy dude!

:grin::grin::grin:

Question: did he smile after sinking the final 9-ball? Probably not.

I certainly agree, CreeDo, and almost talked about that, but I decided to wait until we had a bit more "evidence."

In 15 races to 11 in the Bigfoot Challenge, no one had more than 2 B&R's in a row (but Shane did have 5 in 10 breaks in the finals). In the first-shown 9-ball match, we had two 3-packs. And, yes, Kiamco's TPA was much higher than the best (.908) in the Bigfoot event.

[Edit: Of course, extremely high TPA's are more likely in shorter races than in longer races.]

I got the chance to play Warren on the winner's side at this past year's TX Open. It was 9ball race to 9, on the 9ft, using the magic rack. He broke and ran the first game, nothing fancy just a great controlled break and ran out...then again...then again...then again. At 6-0, my thoughts changed from "I hope I can win a few games," to "I hope he stays perfect to run the set out." LOL. I didn't mind losing at all while watching such a great display of pool. But at 8-0, he over hits the break and comes up dry. You could hear a sigh from the crowd. LOL. He still won 9-0 but at least I made a few more balls than Parica :D :D

An 8-pack; aye karumba! Did the wing ball go in on all the first 8 breaks?

Pretty much! Chip and several others have done 7 packs every year since they started using the magic rack. 2 years ago, I was up on Jeremy Jones 3-2 and never got to shoot anymore. It was sick to watch pool like that!

He is a maniac.

I heard him say 'push' once.

I think you're right, in fact I often confuse him with Alex Pagulayan.
Remember the time Warren made balloon animals between shots?
Or when he asked the waitress for 3 dickfors?

He is definitely a nutty guy. They should do a reality show about him.
"Wiggin' out with Warren"

Those magic racks are great for us amateurs, but at the pro level it might just be about who wins the flip.

Anyone know if SVB is eliminated from the 9-Ball tournament? I don't see his name in the brackets on the DCC website. If so, who knocked him out?

Hey BB,

Do you remember how you met Warren? Get back to me if you do...:):grin-square::cool:

I do, great slates in 2005. I was honored to be introduced, otherwise I would not have watched his matches at the us open the next week.

He played a match against chuck raulston that really made him a champ, IMO. There was a stretch in the match where everything warren did turned to shit, every time he shot made his prospects worse and if he made a couple balls in a row, it got way worse.

He kept flailing his way to the end and I do believe be pulled out a narrow win.

Match play with Good players come in different size and types of packages. A funky break here, a bad roll there and you got zippo. Having seen two 11-0 matches in pro events....life picks no favorites. Hall and Varner both lost this way.

He moonlights as a comedian in his downtime, and he's known as Gilbert Gottfried in the comedy circle...

:p

Hey, I got Warren to smile one time.... At the Derby a few years back I walked up to a few of the Pinoy killers.....Alex, Busty, Jose'.....and Warren, and I asked for his autograph, then thanked him asked who these other guys are....wink wink....and walked away!

he loved it!
