Useful Instructional Phrases That Help You Play Pool Better

I think the biggest reason people don’t use low and slow as much is because it’s way too easy to decelerate (which of course can mean you miss, you end up with follow, or you don’t hit it hard enough to make it). I’m not saying we shouldn’t practice it, or that people shouldn’t try backing...

    Justin Bergman vs Tom Cousins

If he cares enough to put in the time to learn the rules and get the break down, Shane might.

Check out this foul that everyone at the table missed

They called it a scorekeeper error, but I don’t think it was. It certainly did not seem to me to that the ref called foul and loss of game. I think the referee missed it so the effect was to correct the refs error.

    Justin Bergman vs Tom Cousins

I don’t think accuracy has anything to do with it, on these tables with these pockets. IMO Rodney just plays BB 8b like a 9b player. The UK players just play better patterns than guys like Rodney and Archer. Dennis Hatch (and Shane and Corey) play much better 8b patterns IMO and can hang with...

Check out this foul that everyone at the table missed

What’s your source for that? I couldn’t hear it on the video. I went back and screen recorded it and it’s extremely close. I cannot see which ball moves first, but the CB path seems to show it going away from the pocket immediately after the hit, which I think means 1b first.

Check out this foul that everyone at the table missed

It’s about 35 minutes in. I think the ref started the whole problem. I think he forgot Jasmin was solids, which is why he called her good kick on the 1b a foul. He might have even said something like “foul, hit the one ball”, but even if not it just calling it a foul probably confused the...

    What's Inside a Pool Table?

I thought this was going to be a list of the things found inside a ball return table. Beer caps. Thousands of chalks. Money. Joint protectors. Joints. Cigarettes. Lighters. Matches. Jewelry.

    10 Ball Rules History

I remember watching an old Accu-Stat 9b match and the commentators were saying that if the 9b stayed in place post break it meant the rack was loose! Exactly backwards and this would have been like Grady or Billy or Danny etc.

Johnny loses his mind on livestream

Okay, now I didn’t watch the match to see if it was obvious that Archer was upset, but this post by Gabe basically acknowledges that he was saying stuff to Johnny that Johnny was complaining about afterwards (even if Gabe thought it was all in good fun).

Well, the threats are dumb, no doubt. But “kid” is an adult and no doubt more of a match physically for Archer. It’s not like a 30 year old threatening a 13 year old.

If amateurs racked for top 9 ball players on a typical local 9 foot table

If the pros can inspect the rack, they have an excellent chance to make a ball even with a bad rack. At least the older ones who grew up with bad racks. The younger ones might need to buy Joe Tucker’s book and play around with bad racks for a little while.

    10 Ball Rules History

I would also wonder why they would play 10b there instead of 9b. I would guess the average mid level players match takes 50% longer playing 10b than 9b for matches of equal game length. AtLarge probably has stats to prove me wrong though.
