If you're the type of player who thinks they deserve to get their fees back then you might feel it is expensive. If you don't mind paying the cost of a drink and a half for cheap entertainment every week then the Vegas and Hawaii tournaments are a bonus.
For me, Vegas isn't really a win since...
Wow, our league runs differently it sounds. Is this Aloha division under the same league operator? All of our divisions still play against each other for spots in Vegas and HI. Winning your division qualifies you for both. If I am in one division, I am still competing against all other...
Ha, thanks for the congrats. I play on 9ft tables regularly but nobody else on that team does. It is a really good team, but they have repeatedly struggled in high pressure playoffs and tournaments before this. I think they finally found their legs. That particular team is actually just my group...
We have the aloha tournament once a year, but it isn't it's own division. You can qualify for the tournament in each session.
The 8 ball team I captain won the tournament this year and we are going to the tournament in Oahu in Feb! I am super stoked. :D
I am super proud of the folks on the...
Long nights is going to be an issue for sure. However that could still happen even with the new system.
I am not sure the players playing the same people will change either. Once you are familiar with an opponents play, as a captain I usually would match the same regardless. Sometimes I will...
I agree that it still sounds like a handicap league. I also agree that it sounds like a penalty for lower ranked players. I am sure this will make your top shooters happy, but in the long term it will likely stifle new player sign ups.
Why are you getting rid of them and what problem are you...
As others have said, in APA you can replace your ball where it was since he didn't move it with the cue ball. I am not sure the ruling in BCA however it is typical that moving the balls with anything other than the CB is not allowed.
In our masters league you need to be at least a 5 to play. Also they only allow four players per team so finding one my be difficult, especially since you don't currently play league.
As for you other concerns they are somewhat valid and somewhat not. Every handicap system has it's flaws. Yes...
I love these. I am having Dave build the cue. So far my idea was very similar to what you have him making so that is good and bad news haha. I was hoping he could do coco but he seems to work with bubinga a lot. I still need to talk to him about finalizing the cue, we have just been speaking via...
Simple cue designs you love? Woods and simple ring work.
I am having a simple custom made, and looking for some ideas. I am not going to go with splices or inlays, but just simple wood grains and ring work. Post up some pics of simple designs you like.
Right now I know I want some curly maple...
I have it. It is a fantastic companion to his vids. Since I don't have a pool table at home it's nice to watch the vids and then bring the book for reference at the table.
I have been super impressed with everything he has put out. He really has the best stuff on the market right now IMHO.
Pocket billiards is a game of skill and strategy. Why would you largely take away the latter?
In my experience the only people that get upset about such rules are usually bangers who have no grasp on strategy. I rarely play a safe against those guys anyway as it's usually a bar game.
Safeties...
I end up playing in my motorcycle boots often since I ride to league most nights. My boots are basically equivalent to a nice comfortable pair of work boots. They work well for me, except in the summer when they get a bit hot.
