    APA (by Google)

At 675 FR, you would almost certainly be the best player on a given APA night in most pool rooms. From what I've seen, most players 650 and up tend to either drop APA or only play sporadically (and often on a lark of sorts). It's pretty rare to see a highly active APA player who is approaching...

    Another observation: PSR

What a great thread with so much great insight. OP, I'm in the same boat as you regarding all of this stuff. When I start missing shots out of nowhere (especially shots where I felt like I did my entire PSR perfectly), it's easy for me to spiral and start second guessing everything, which in...

    APA (by Google)

"Standard 7" is a pretty easily recognized skill level if you've been in APA for a while. These players are FR 525-575. The handicap actually applies to them in terms of creating a relatively fair match, and they are only a little less susceptible to losses than the average SL 3s, for example...

    APA (by Google)

The average 8 ball SL 7s (at least in my neck of the woods) definitely aren't a favorite to get out with BIH on a bar box unless they have a relatively wide open layout. However, they are usually smart/experienced enough to avoid falling into the trap of painting themselves into a corner and...

Kim Davenport playing in the Music City Open

Kim’s opponent Mike Gann is a very strong player. If he’s not the best player in East TN, he’s in the top 5 or so.

    Joe Rogan / Fedor Gorst

This is fantastic and I'm sure Emily Frazer is in full crisis mode right now with all this talk about drug use among the pros, haha.

    OB cues shut down?

I had a "tip steering" issue on almost every shot that I couldn't figure out. So out of curiosity I hit a few balls opposite handed and it went away. Quickly realized my grip was causing it. I haven't used it much since then, but that insight alone was well worth the price.

    Darren Appleton

Not sure of the accuracy of this, but Mary Kenniston posted on FB that Darren was clinically"dead" for 20 minutes before he was resuscitated/induced into a coma. That sounds very bad for his long-term prognosis.

    OB cues shut down?

It's my playing shaft. Their DigiCue Blue also helped me diagnose some pretty bad stroke flaws.

    Mosconi cup

There's also a competition problem. Unless the kid lives in a city with a thriving junior pool scene (and very few of those exist), who is he or she going to play? Sadly, it seems that kids who show promise in pool end up getting sucked into the seedier side of it or just flat-out quitting in...

Shane Van Boening on "60 Minutes," December 4, 7:30 p.m. Eastern

I loved this. Had it been a little longer, I'd like to have seen a very quick breakdown of equipment differences. The layperson doesn't immediately recognize the difference between a 7' Valley, which is what many people associate pool with in America, and a 9' Diamond that pros play on. I...

I thought they might have been referring to hustling but just called it gambling.

    Mosconi cup

USA missed chances in 2018, 2020, 2021, and now 2022 to develop new talent. I don’t fault the Bergman pick in 2019 though he only won a single point in doubles. The Corey pick in 2020 was a headscratcher given his poor showing in 2018. And of course, the Earl/JJ spot in 2021 was a waste for the...

    Nashville TN area pool halls/tournaments

Ever been to Melrose Billiards in Nashville? Not sure how it is under the “new” (past 6 years or so) owners but back in the day it was the smokiest place I have ever been. JOB is horrific but somehow Melrose edged it out.

H Cue's tables aren't bad. I believe they are oversized 8' Steepletons. They keep them in good shape overall. If you're looking for 9'ers, JOB Billiards in Madison has a few, as does Fat Willie's in Murfreesboro.
