Chalking just the outer edges of tip

Been doing this for a while now - I use Kamui chalk and it seems like there are a bunch of advantages to just chalking the outer edges: Less Chalk on the table Uses less chalk Less Chalk on cue ball (hit a center ball with Kamui and you will leave a big chalk mark on the cue ball) Less skids...

Shortening the races on PPV events

Anybody else feel a little cheated when they do this? I realize Appleton has already won the event but it seems a little nitty - like going to a baseball game and 2 teams that are out of the running for the playoffs agreeing to only play to 6 innings.

CSI one pocket (TAR for Friday)

    Comment from Danny Dilaberto

Danny made a comment tonight in the finals of the Derby City 9 ball that the cue balls "glances" more the harder the cue ball is hit into it because it "gains weight" (the object ball). Mark Wilson asked him to elaborate and Danny said he has studied physics for years and it absolutely gains...

Shaft cleaning (found a great new way)

I have always been a huge fan of cue doctor shaft cleaner. I usually dab it on a dry paper towel, spin on my lathe and go up and down the cue shaft. I remembered in waxing cars how they recommend to use a damp cloth when waxing your car. I decided to try a damp paper towel with the cue wax...

    My experience with Kumui Chalk

First off I dont have a dog in this fight. Frankly going in I was a bit skeptical - my cubes came in the mail today and I have been hitting a few balls with it. Like most have said its like mascara. I applied the chalk and started in my drill of hitting the long straight in shot. I felt like...

    Finish Question

I took a lesson and my instructor has me gripping the cue now at the very butt end of the cue. Will prolonged gripping at the butt eventually wear the finish down? I have seen some cues with the finish completely off the cue - is that from gripping other than the grip area? Thanks!

    Funny rules question

Played in league last night (BCA) and had a situation arise - guy breaks and makes a strip. His next shot he chooses a stripe, shoots and pockets it and hits the eight ball in. Loss of game is obvious - what's the score? In the pocketing of the eight ball is that considered a "foul"? If...
