The APA should try these improvements

Due to the new scoring system, SL2s are losing popularity since they are most likely to lose 3 points against higher skilled players. Teams are going to start ditching SL2s in favor of having more SL3s and SL4s, and accordingly I think the APA will suffer. Here is what I suggest the APA to do...

    Unforseen benefit of TOI

My offhand shooting has improved by 800%. I cannot play the length of the table shots yet, but playing on a half table I just started firing the balls into the pocket with no sweat. Heck, I can even draw the cueball because my stroke has loosened up with the gain in confidence. My pockets...

    Anybody tried pine tar?

Do you have a cue that keeps coming loose at the joint during play? At Sports Authority I bought a stick of pine tar in a tube for less than $10. It is used for baseball bats in case you want to get some for yourself. It works great. Just thought I would share this with you.

We need Survivor to host a pool reality show

8 men pool players and 8 ladies. I would call the theme Survivor - Color of Money. Do you think this would work? I think I am going to send a letter to the network as I think it would be a great idea. I think this would certaintly put pool on the map. Can you only imagine?!!!! My first...

    For what it is worth

Willard has sold its company to Mueller products. I know because I just had to get my Willard Tip Machine repaired. Personally, I like this because it was always impossible to get through to Willard.

Magic Rack - too perfect or WTF?

My Magic Rack arrived today so I thought I would give it a try out. In 9 ball racks the 9 ball must have stayed in the rack 95% of the time, unless something came off the rail and contacted it. It hardly budged as a matter of fact. I tried cut breaks, rail breaks, different spins, to no...

    CueTech Silver Bullet Jump Cue

Well, for a month now I have been reading all of the jump cue reviews. I called Lomax and didn't feel like waiting, so I orderd the Silver Bullet Jump Cue for $128 at Muellers. Check it out! It is so much better than my Stealth jump cue it ain't funny. I like the fact that it is 3 pieces...

    Leather vs. Vinyl cases

It appears that leather cases are around twice as much as vinyl cases. What are compelling reasons, if any, to shell out the extra money for a vinyl case, looks aside? i.e. do they last longer/hold up better under long term conditions?

    Composite tips legal (?)

I know everyone has said that phenolic tips are illegal in certain pool tournaments etc. What about composite tips? The reason I am asking is that I am going to order a Lomax jump cue and I noticed that one of tip options is the G-10, as was recommended by another AZ poster. If composite tips...

    Slow play

 Just watched Brandon Shuff and Ralph Souquet play at Valley Forge. Is is just a sin how slow they play. Two games took about 30 minutes. And SVB is just as bad. I realize they are playing for $25Gs, but my God, they must be taking stupid pills. Talking about over thinking - its a...

Initially shaping the flat tip w/o a lathe

What is the fastest and best way to shape a new installed tip? Hard tips are murder for me to sit there with a file and shape the tip. When I finally get the tip to a near nickle shape, I finish it off with a Willard nickel or dime tool. I was thinking of buying an 'arbor adaptor' for use...

    The shakes

Must be my age, being out of shape, or whatever. Even in practice when I pause just before pulling the trigger I can never get my cue tip to stay steady - it quivers ever so slightly and it messes up my stroke. So, I applied a little pressure to my grip and the shaking stopped. My shot making...

Cue case strap sliding off shoulder

I have an Instroke case and the strap slides off my shoulder too easily. Have any of you had this problem and what did you do to fix? I was thinking of getting some kind of rubber and super glueing it to the strap. I know this would work but seems too radical. thanks in advance, WW

    Cue Extender

 I just got The Tony Ryan cue extender from Seyberts and I am very pleased. MUch better than the Longoni which took me 45 minutes to remove during a tournament (and ended up in the trash can). I ordered the 12" and 17". Can't figure which one I like the best. Very reasonable price...

    super light jump cues

This week I saw this jump cue (lighting bolt or something) that was so light the bolt must have been the heaviest things about it. It had a specially made McDermit shaft and a special leather tip that was super hard. Everyone was saying how easy it was to jump with, especially the resident pro...

When to get laser surgery - revisited

If you are older, say in your 40s, I would recommend delaying laser vision surgery IF your parents have a history of cataracts. The reason is that it is easier to predict what size and strength your replacement lens would be for cataract surgery. This is especially true if they had to chop a...
