Should the Reyes Cup Teams Change?

With plenty of chat on the boards about the recent edition of the Reyes Cup, what are people's thoughts on the next edition (and moving forwards), what would be most appealing to the fans?

    History of Billiards

I found this video on Youtube the other night, I thought it was pretty interesting and might appeal to people on here: It goes back over 2000 years (depending on how you determine the origins exactly), which is pretty cool!

O'Sullivan Talks about Chinese 8-Ball in the future

https://metro.co.uk/2024/07/16/ronnie-osullivan-eyeing-pinnacle-another-sport-snooker-retirement-21241699/ Probably not overly serious, but given the money on offer its not surprising snooker players are starting to take notice!

Yan Bingtao Suspended from Pro snooker!

https://wst.tv/wpbsa-statement-december-12th-2022/ There have been a number of recent suspensions from the World Snooker Tour recently (the details haven't been fully disclosed, but it is strongly implied its related to some sort of betting activity), however Yan is the first real big name...

World Snooker Tour introduces player salaries (sort of)!

https://wst.tv/tour-players-guaranteed-prize-money-under-new-wst-and-wpbsa-initiative/ Not quite, but essentially it guarantees that every player will receive GBP 20,000 at least if they are on the professional tour (it is deducted from any winnings, but kept if winnings exceed this amount, so...

    Interesting Doubles Pairing

It's not US pool, but this pairing might be of interest to people as I'm guessing many will be familiar with both players: https://www.ultimatepoolgroup.com/article/190

First ever 155 break in snooker to be captured on video!

Thepchaiya Uh-Nooh made what is believed to be the first 155 maximum break ever captured on video yesterday: Pro player Jamie Cope is also said to have made one in practice* and no-one has ever made one in an official match (although breaks over 147 have been made). For those not familiar...

    Snooker- British Open, interesting draw...

Ignore the headline in the web address below: https://wst.tv/selby-and-murphy-to-meet-at-british-open/ The standout tie of the round (and presumably a snooker first) is Reannie Evans vs Mark Allen! For those that aren't aware they used to be a couple and Mark recently asked for her to be...

2020 WPA World 9-Ball Championships to Matchroom?

I hope this is okay to post (if not I'm sure someone will remove it!), but this was posted on the British Pro9 site this morning: http://www.pro9.co.uk/html/viewtopic.php?forum=5&topic=6235&start=600#f125949 It says that next year's World 9-Ball will not take place in Qatar, but another...

Interesting video of Jayson Shaw practising Chinese 8-Ball

https://youtu.be/d_YtYn0-QXY It shows how difficult these tables must be (given this is only a practice session)!!!

    Practising on a snooker table?

Does anyone do this (i.e. with 2 1/4" pool balls)? I tried ages ago on a full size one and at the time definitely didn't have the skill level to make it worthwhile (which is probably still true :-), but I'm thinking maybe on an 8ft table for example it could be interesting (probably rubbish for...

    Another positive story for pool!

http://ipapool.com/ipa-and-the-bbc/ This relates to English 8-Ball....but it is a massive story (in pool terms)! As you probably know the BBC is the state broadcaster here in the UK, so it means pool (in some form) will be shown live to every household in the UK for free...and also presumably...

    Short Cue Butts

I currently have a normal 'off the shelf' Predator 5K2 with Z2 shaft and as I mentioned on another thread I'm thinking of getting a table in a room that is basically too small. However I'm fairly short (5' 7.5") and naturally cue with my back hand 2-3 inches from the back, so I have considered...

    Another room size question!

So I have a garden room that is 5.28m x 4.27m (which I think is 17ft 4 inches x 14ft), so in simple terms would you go for an 8 footer or a 7 footer. I'm not a fan of using short cues, so I'd probably go smaller if that was likely. In terms of theory it looks like I'm right on the edge of an 8...

The 9-Ball Break- How much luck is involved?

I'm hoping people on here can settle a debate I'm having on a snooker forum... My theory is that the 9-Ball break involves a lot of skill, hence players like SVB, Corey etc. have an advantages in say long races where winner breaks. However I also clarify this by saying there is luck involved...
