    New collection addition

I was very fortunate to purchase an autographed Willie Mosconi print off the wall of Cue and Cushion in STL. The legendary Mark Wilson was there giving private instruction. We see each other often there, and he came over to offer that it had an interesting provenance - as it came directly from...

Today’s pool room find: Schon SL 13

This came into Cue and Cushion today, and I fell into immediate love. Why? First, because it’s an Evan Clarke SL-13. Second, it’s absolutely mint. Third, someone put a gorgeous lizard wrap, and it has a brand new Schon shaft which hits great. Lastly, it’s identical to the one the Earthquake used...

JOSS - Nick Varner “An STL Cue Show Score

Teachers Billiards, located near St Louis, MO, had a Cue Yard Sale today. Members of the community set up stations within the pool room where they showed off, bought, sold, and traded cues. There was quite a turnout, and I’d say it was a huge success. There were lots of neat cues available, cool...

    Brand New Treadway

I picked up a brand new Treadway cue. Birdseye and cocobolo. This cue plays fantastic! Big pin, hand-picked Le Pro tip (Josh tests and hand picks them). Fun, fun!

JOSS CUE - Replica of Mike Sigel's cue

I just wanted to share with my AZ pals that Stephen Janes is building me a copy of Mike Sigel's old JOSS cue from the 80s. The first photo (with all of the shafts) was the very cue that Sigel used for years and played some amazing pool with. This photo was from John Wright I believe. I have had...

    New Meucci Quality

Maybe a month ago I bought a basic, entry level, Meucci to try out. It's just all red, and has a "pro" shaft with a layered tip. I have to give credit where credit is due. The overall quality of this cue is superb. Excellent fit, finish - and the shaft plays fantastic. It has a great feel and is...

    Where are our JOSS experts?

Can one of our Joss experts (SROBER40, CHOPDOC, GARCZAR) confirm the year/model of this JOSS for me? I saw one like it on ebay being sold from Japan, but the listing did not identify the model. This was a one-owner, all original cue, bought new from Cue and Cushion in STL decades ago...and, more...

    Best Player/Business Successes

Lets share a post about legendary players of the past and present who found business success beyond the green felt. Steve Mizerak (nuff' said) Larry Hubbard and Terry Bell (also nuff' said) Nick Varner - Cues and Billiard Supply business. SVB - I've heard he also invested wisely and done...

    I really like it!

So, I did a little bit more cue trading this week, as one is prone to do, or, at least, as "I" am prone to do, and ended up with a brand new Meucci Economy Cure (what a name) Model cue with carbon fiber shaft.I really like this cue a lot. First, I like the Economy Cure design. It comes in...

    Any McDermott Cue Players?

Somehow, after some trading, I ended up with this McDermott Cue of the Year cue. I think it’s a few years old at least but was only test hit (supposedly). The workmanship is amazing. I don’t know if I like the design or not. There is a LOT going on. I haven’t really hit with the i shaft but...

    Joss Sneaky Pete

I just purchased a brand new JOSS sneaky Pete off the rack at my local billiard retailer (Cue and Cushion in STL) and I am INCREDIBLY impressed! Now, I realize this is subjective. I know…I know, BUT, the balance is amazing. The taper and butt size are perfect (to me). I think it has a...

    Quality of affordable cues...

I just wanted to say that I am extremely impressed at the quality of modern "affordable" cues. From Nick Varner, to Action, Players...and another brand - Griffin. I've been a bit of a cue snob for years, however, I will say that I've known some champion level players who used inexpensive cues...

Wow, I've been a member here for 20 years and a few days. Will I get a pension, like I do from the Air Force? I've really enjoyed it. (Feeling old)

Collection Addition: QB Custom Cue "The Last One"

I'm fortunate to own the last QB Custom Cue, finished for me recently by AJ and then Cueball. It has one experimental low deflection shaft (1 of 2 made...the other is on one of AJ's personal cues) which is amazing. The other shaft is traditional and has the Scott Frost taper. The cue looks...

What MM shaft do you prefer?

I was speaking with a local champion about equipment this week and noticed that he, and many other A level players around here like a skinnier shaft (around 12mm) with a very long taper. I do as well (and I'm NOT an A level player by any stretch...more like a C-). I like my new SW cue, but I'm...

Hey AZ family, I just wanted to share my new Southwest cue which arrived yesterday. It's flawless! I can't wait to get out this weekend and hit a ball with it. My beautiful BARTON case will finally be put to use. Enjoy the pics! Big thanks to Laurie Franklin and the Southwest Cue team.

Laurie Franklin (Southwest Cues) just called....

My cue is being shipped today. Only 15 years and 9 months :) One shaft will have the pro taper at 12.5mm and the other a full 13mm standard taper. How many of you actively play with a Southwest Cue? I'm really excited!

    Wanted: Joss n-17

I’m on the hunt for another N-17. Please reach out privately and show me what you have with prices. If you don’t have that exact model, but something similar in design/quality from that era I’m definitely interested. Today is my birthday, and I’m looking to find something special for myself! Thanks
